Cain was a simple boy with no outstanding talent coming from a family of lower middle class craftsman, so when the local bishop needed someone to take care of a graveyard at the corner edge of the country after the former caretaker died, his family jumped at the chance to focus on his brother Able, who had the potential to become a mage. Quite frankly, Cain had no real talent for the kinds of magic favored by The Academy of Mystical Abilities, he had magic, yes. However, he would never be able to use the elements like others might. So with the a set of clothes and a few coppers, Cain was shipped up north to the small village of Telmen.
