Chapter 34 - Where did I come from?

After sleeping soundly throughout the night, Nancy woke up as the first rays of sunlight fell on her face. "I want to sleep more…" saying that, Nancy got up on her feet, but only stood up. "Where did I come from?" Nancy started looking around her in search of her own footmarks. But being in a desert, her footprints were washed away a long time ago as she tried to locate the direction she came from. But after she was unable to make up her mind, she followed the same method as before as she now faced the north direction. Nancy started moving in that direction while on her journey, she kept cursing Avon at every opportunity she got. "All of this is happening because of him. I will never forgive him for this, if I can get him now somehow I will kill him," as she kept blabbering to herself on her journey. Nancy had walked for quite some time as it was getting mid-noon by that point, she was starving with hunger and in need of water but had little to nothing resources left with her. And after following that direction for some more time, she spotted a small village at a distance. She was ecstatic with her findings as she hurried towards that village.

After a while she reached the village, it was a small village with 4-5 houses scattered around the fields. As she closed in on the first house, a small dog started barking at her. Late in the afternoon, people were taking a rest inside their huts. As the dog continued barking, one of the villagers came out of his hut and started looking for the dog. When he finally saw the dog, there was this girl in weird clothes trying to calm his dog. Nancy saw that villager too, he looked like the member of some clan. He had, this, strange scribblings tattooed all over his face, putting his arm behind his back, he was slowly advancing towards her. Suddenly, the locket hanging around her neck started glowing and she teleported out of there. The village stopped, he was lost for words as that girl disappeared in front of him in thin air.

He looked on, as he stood there dumbfounded. There was a sharp weapon in his hand, made from the bone of an animal, while behind him, near his hut, there lay bones of dead men and animals. It was rather a small group of cannibals who lived in the middle of that desert. The rest of the members were out hunting, as he stayed back for the day to look after their village.
