Olympus was bustling with noise and light engulfed it with fire lanterns decorating the entrance. The Castle had it's fountain filled with magical orbs.
The huge driveway was once again filled with carriages with different types displaying the wealth of the guests invited.
Celestia remained seated quietly glancing from the window beside her and Mael from time to time. The ride was silent and a bumpy one that Neylar gripped on Celestia's fabric every now and then afraid of falling.
Celestia found the action very entertaining. How her eyes would bulge startled. She was thankful she was tiny and her fabric was spared from her tight grips.
Neylar wasn't satisfied with that she even choose to bombard Celestia's mind with insults. Tuning her mind away from her familiar, she glanced outside to notice the carriage was parked in front in front of the red carpet leading its way to the Halls of the Castle.
Mael, being the gentleman, hopped down first, took his white glove and wore them. He gave Celestia a blue one.
He then extended his hand to her and she placed her palms into his and gave it a firm grip. He hoisted her down carefully. Looking around, he realized everyone had masks on.
"Where's yours?" He asked her craning his head inside to see if she dropped it accidentally. She pouted her lips in frustration. Eros never told her it would be a masquerade party.
"Dont worry about that." He assured her accessing her clothes. She looked enchanting in her dark blue glittering gown that had a slit on both sides from mid thigh running down to her ankles and laying on the ground she stood.
She topped her outfit with a white fur coat that covered her bust and her hair was neatly tied to a complicated bun with ornaments handing loosely on it and a pair of glittering heels.
Neylar curled into a ball in her arms oblivious to the noise around her. Mael wore a matching suit with his hair tied in his usual ponytail and his mask on his face.
He muttered a few words and a mask similar to his appeared in his hands. "May I?" He asked her politely. When she nodded her head lightly and walked behind her and wore her mask for her.
He pushed the ornaments on her hair slightly to get access to her ear and tied it firmly. He noticed her stiff posture , perhaps she was uncomfortable? He thought and chuckled lightly before gaining his composure.
"Thank you Mael for troubling you again." He shook his head at her words. "It's always my pleasure to be of help to you, Goddess." He bowed.
She smiled. He always amused her and was definitely a good companion although he was quiet and aloof as people portrayed him to be, he had a heart of gold.
"Mael come closer and kneel." She said handing Neylar to him. He nodded confused but obeyed her.
She removed hair band from her hair and stood behind him deep in thought. After a few minute of silence, she released his hair making it fall loose on his back.
" Aren't you tired of tieing your hair this way? This is obviously quite boring." She said tieing his hair. He was surprised by her boldness. In fact he didn't mind though but the way her fingers kept brushing his neck was making it hard for him to concentrate.
" This is obviously better! "She said crouching in front of him inspecting her handiwork. She tied his hair in a ponytail and left two strands in front of his face. She braided them and placed ornaments in them.
" I advice you behave because people are staring. "Mael stood up and took her arm him while handing her companion. She turned back to see people giving her pointed stares. She glared at them in return.
" I don't really care what they say. What I'm concerned about is you. You know how nosy and exaggerating they can be." She said walking by his side.
He let out a laugh and looked at her before replying. "I know that's the reason you avoid these occasions but I'm a mere servant. I don't care what they say, it will be a bother if they start gossiping about you." He said looking ahead.
Celestia followed his line of sight. They had reached the Hall. "Zeus did go overboard this time." She siad glancing at the beautifully decorated place.
Even the servants did dress to match the occasion . She wondered his reason for decorating like this.
She felt a light grip on her palm. Mael gave her a worried look. "Are you alright Celestia?" He whispered lowly.
"Yes, I'm good." She waved him off. The two walked inside hand in hand with Mael standing protectively in front of her.
"Goddess Celestia and Archangel Mael arrives!" An announcer yelled to those in the room.
Celestia felt gazes on her. Neylar who was cuddled in her arms felt her discomfort and decided to jump of her arms and walk beside increasing her size to resemble a wild cat.
'Thanks Neylar.' She mindlinked her. 'Dont thank me yet.' She scoffed in return.
Eros sensed her coming close and smiled happily but frowned when he realized how close the two were and the laughter made him frown more.
Psyche beamed when she saw Mael. He had been her crush ever since she saw him. She even tried courting him but failed. He was aloof to people and made an effort to get to know him but it seemed he wasnt interested.
She wore a gold-wooven gown that reached her knee with heels. Her brown hair was curled and let loose.
Celestia walked to Eros with Mael who stood behind her protectively. She greeted him and Psyche by his side. She had to admit they made a great couple. But that wasn't the case.
She noticed Psyche's lingering gaze on Mael and coughed to get her attention. Psyche turned her attention her. Celestia gave her a look that said, 'Such impudence.'
She ignored her and looked toward Mael
"Mael! How have you been? You've been missed dearly." She said marching to his side. Neylar gave her a warning growl to back off.
She paused and stared between Neylar and Celestia. She was as surprised as Psyche.
"Do something about it Celestia!" She pointed at the angry Neylar.
Afraid of unwanted attention ahe sighed. "Neylar, stand down." She muttered. Neylar ignored the command and growled ferociously at Psyche.
She hated that being and how she wanted to cling on to Mael. Moreover, Mael belonged to her Master.
"Neylar you ignored the command you forced me to do this.."She pinched her nose before opening her glowing eyes.
" You impudent creature,I command you, Stand Down Now! "She yelled loud enough for everyone to hear. The power she emitted was chilly and the place was darkening.
'Am sorry master' Neylar whined bowing beneath her feet. Celestia in this form was dangerous she didn't want to anger her further.
She crouched down and carried her diminishing form. 'I do understand your concern but you know how people here are.' She pet her.
'Yes but isn't she being shameful. Her fiance is right in front of her and she is clinging to another man. I feel sorry for Eros.' Neylar argued.
'Neylar... you're something else.' She smiled at her and looked at Eros apologetically.
"Am sorry about that, she was protecting a friend." She bowed at him.
He stopped her from bowing." It's alright! "
" Love, how are you doing by the way? "He asked her changing the topic
" Am good just being my usual self. "She watched the place again. It seemed tomorrow she would be the topic of discussion. She thought sourly.
'Mael you can leave with Psyche.' She said to him. He was taken by surprise by her request. 'Its alright, I'm looking for a friend.'
She turned to Eros. "Have you perhaps seen Hermes? " She asked.
"I saw him at the balcony on top with his assistant." He said.
"Thank you. I have been waiting to talk to him for a while." She smiled.
"Im curious as to what you two want to discuss." Psyche interrupted already clinging to Mael's arm with an evident smirk on her face.
"Well you never know. After all I use my time productively unlike some others who go round poking into others business and touching what doesn't belong to them..." She paused and continued.
"Am afraid if I continue arguing with you my IQ might reduce due to your inability to think am not sure you know this but..you should pay attention to your zipper on your side." She smirked hiding a laugh.
"You.." Psyche pointed an accusing finger at her and felt her zipper fly open. Her hands immediately covered it to avoid an embarrassment.
"What? Let me tell you one thing, pay attention to your surroundings. I'll cut this conversation short, next time I hope I'll talk to a more level headed person then." She watched her cheeks flush in embarrasment.
"Mael I'm going to a friend I'll be back please keep her company and watch over Neylar." She handed him Neylar.
"Will do Goddess." He bowed at her. She nodded briefly and embraced Eros.
"Please control your fiancée, next time i won't let it slide and don't blame me for doing anything." She whispered in his ears.
She smiled at him and then left him dumbfounded. One thing he knew was she was very serious.
