Kim Young Ju or 888 holding a black envelope in his hand. The lid of the envelope has a red seal. Stamp from the king of Heaven. Slowly he opened it. The envelope contains a person's data. Name and place of birth date, profession and how he lived. Also, how will he meet death. He looked at the date of his death, it was still two days from now. However, according to the procedure two days
earlier, the angels of death had to overshadow the human soul for the remainder of the day before death. 888 stepped into the next room. When he was about to knock on the door, Chin Hae or 444 suddenly opened the door to his room.
"You're just like a human being," scolded 888. 444 just stared,
"Huh? I came out of my room, did I have to go through the door? I didn't put on my pin," answered 444.
888 snorted in annoyance and he handed the envelope in his hand to 444.
"Put on your pin we have to get to work," 888 said as he walked over.
"Where are you going?"
"I'm feeling a little hungry, do you mind?" 888 stepped into the kitchen in the apartment. Then, he took the salad out of the fridge and started eating it. 444 walked over with a frown.
"Telling someone else to hurry up, while you're actually enjoying eating here," grumbled 444. 888 just chuckled. 50 years ago, it was he who picked up 444's soul and escorted him to the court of the heavenly king. Because of a fatal mistake 444 made during his lifetime, he had to serve the punishment of an angel of death. And, because his partner Woo Bin was able to reincarnate, 444 became 888's partner. Of course, 444's memory was erased. He would regain those memories, if the time to be reincarnated was almost here.
And, 444 was still a teenager when he died in a fatal accident that hit his school bus. So, sometimes his behavior is still like a teenager in general. I love to sulk. And 888 loves to tease him.
"Eun Tak, 35 years old, a bank employee. Died because... oh god, he committed suicide? Is he ready to face the king of hell and undergo punishment," said 444 with a face full of horror.
"Our job is just to pick him up and then deliver him to the final court. Why is your face so pitiful?" asked 888.
"I don't know, I often feel bad for bringing souls to the king of hell."
"What a strange angel of death," 888 grumbled. Finally, after breakfast and other things, they came out of the apartment.
"Why are you so happy to come out of the apartment as a human?" 444 grumbled.
"Well, do you want people to suspect that we are grim reapers? Hah, you."
"But, it's faster if we just use teleportation."
"Don't be lazy, sometimes we also need to exercise," said 888 casually. 444 could only purse his lips.
Teleportation was the transfer of matter from one point to another, instantaneously. The grim reaper has the ability to teleport. They only had to think of a place where they would go. Then they can walk through anything. By going into the closet and then when the door opens they will connect to another door in another room. Likewise with 888 and 444 they can go anywhere they want. Just by thinking about it. However, 888 really likes it if they walk first to the lobby below their apartment then they will teleport to their destination. Although he is very unfriendly when passing by other people. That's why he's too lazy to walk first. Because he was forced to return greetings to everyone who met them and say hello to 888.
In the corner of the apartment lobby there is a toilet. Usually they will go to the toilet and put on their pin then they will teleport to where they want to go.
"Put your pin on. We will soon find Eun tak," said 888. Without being ordered twice, 444 immediately put the pin on and they both disappeared behind the toilet door. They arrived at a simple house. A woman is sitting pensively holding a piece of paper. Her face looked very confused. Every now and then she took a deep breath and exhaled heavily. The curious 444 immediately stood behind the woman and also read the paper in her hand.
Slap...
888 violently hit 444 in the head with the stick he was carrying.
"Ouch, why did you hit me anyway," protested 444.
"Don't be curious about human affairs, 444."
"We were also human like her. Haaah... I don't know what my fault was, that I had to undergo punishment to become a grim reaper like this."
It wasn't long before the doorbell rang. The woman, Eun Tak, immediately rushed to open the door. It turned out that what came was a woman and a small child who at that time had met with 888.
"Your face is so pale, what's wrong? Are you sick?" asked the woman who had just arrived. Eun Tak shook her head.
"I'm so dizzy, you look at this," replied Eun Tak, handing over the paper she was reading earlier. Hyun Jae the little girl looked at 888 and 444 who were standing with an unfriendly look.
"You again," she muttered barely audibly. However, it sounded clear to 888's ears.
"Can you see us?" 888 asked reassuringly. Hyun Jae nods briefly, then she joins her mother and Eun Tak sitting on the sofa.
"What's wrong, Hyun Jae?" asked Kim, her mother.
Hyun Jae turns to Eun Tak and holds the woman's hand. "Auntie, be careful, okay?" She said. Eun Tak stroked Hyun Jae's long black hair.
"Why do you say that? Do I look like a careless person?" asked Eun Tak. Hyun Jae smiled,
"Of course not. Auntie is my aunt who is the kindest. It's just, I feel that something unpleasant will happen. That's why I asked you to be careful," replied Hyun Jae with a smile. Kim and Eun Tak looked at each other.
"You just do what she says," Kim said.
"What should I do, sis? It's hard to pay all the debts left by Do Yun. Even 5 years of my salary will not be able to pay all his debts. If this house is sold, it can only be half of it. Where will I live?" Eun Tak starts to sob. Kim hugs her best friend, Eun Tak, who just lost her husband. Unbeknownst to Eun Tak, it turns out that Do Yun has left a lot of debt behind. Kim knows that the money was used by Do Yun to pay for Eun Tak's treatment.
888 who saw the scene before him was expressionless. 444 nudged 888's hand,
"Maybe that's what made her decide to kill herself," said 444.
"It's none of our business. Our job is only to pick up her soul when she dies the day after tomorrow," replied 888 coldly.
