I found out that some of the tribes that had been dismissed from the suiter trials had stayed to see who won the trials. Which was perfectly fine. After the wedding tonight though all of them would be expected to finish packing up and head home in the morning. There were so many though that Pepaw was a little worried about how we would feed all these people for one, and their intensions for two. He told me himself he thought they only stayed to be closer. He thought maybe just maybe they might be biding their time. For what though he did not know.
I walked with my Pepaw down to the dirt arena. My Pepaw had me walk arm and arm with him. This was to symbolize how highly he thought of and cared for me. As we walked through the camps people followed behind our people. I had not realized how many people had stayed behind. I can understand better now what my Pepaw meant. Altogether, there must have been at least a thousand people we did not really know. That were staying supposedly just for my wedding.
As I walked with Pepaw and saw all of these people, I could not help but have some of the same worries. Our tribe was not small. We must have had at least two hundred peoples. But two hundred against one thousand. The odds were not for us. We were really going to have to watch how things went down.
I knew I was going to have to tell Aries as soon as possible (ASAP). But I was not sure that my worries were anything really to worry about. I thought maybe I was being a little paranoid! I mean I did just get my memory back. Just then, while I was deep in thought, I wave of sleepiness came over me. I could not hardly keep my eyes open. Something was not right here!
We made it to the arena, and found our seats. As I looked around to smile at the crowd, I could not help but notice I was not the only one that was having issues keeping my head up. Several people were bobbing and swaying threatening to fall over at any given second. When Pepaw and I sat down, the others unceremoniously sat down as well. I guess you could say they fell down. Each person leaning on the next. What was going on here!!!!
About then Aries came bounding into the arena. He was so full of energy. I could not help but smile. But when his opponent I knew who it was immediately. Remember I was not supposed to know these guys names. But at the very beginning of the trials there was a group of women who tried to warn me off of a few of the guys. They gave me names then.
I could see the Viking God Surtur. He was standing in a black suit that was made to fit perfectly. He also had a smug look on his face that kind of said it all. He knew exactly what he was doing. He waved at me. I leaned over to tell Pepaw what I knew was going on. But Pepaw was in some kind of a daze. As I looked around again I could tell that all the crowd was in some kind of daze as well.
My first thoughts were oh no! Not this again! Not another stupid guy trick! Just then I heard a loud snap. I looked down into the arena in time to see Surtur had snapped his fingers. He was now wearing the traditional loin cloth that Aries was already wearing and the deer skin pants.
He turned around in a circle and called up to me, "have you gotten a good look dear. I promise you will get an up close and personal show as soon as this fight is over. It should not take long." He looked at Aries, "Now my boy, are you ready to lose?"
Aries smiled, "Sorry but you are supposed to pick your weapons."
Surtur laughed so loudly that a few people in the crowd shook their heads for just a second and went back to their daze. "Boy I am a Fire Giant. I rule over Muspelheim. That is a world of fire if you did not know. As such I choose to use my Giant's magic to defeat you. Are you sure you want to have this fight boy? This is your chance to back out."
Aries laughed out loud, "So we are going to start out boasting. Okay then, I am the GOD of War. I am worshiped by all who fight any battle. I am an expert with all weapons known to any creature on this planet and a few off planet. I rule over any battlefield, and honor all those who die in battle with honor. Those lucky few will be called upon again in the end days to help fight for our just cause."
Surtur rubbed his chin, "What is your just cause at the end? Isn't the end, the end? Why fight for any cause then?"
Aries crouched down and got into his fighting stance. "I will tell you when we get there. I only know the prophecy."
Surtur crouched down and began limbering up. "Seems like an important question to ask your. um Oracle? Oracle isn't it?"
Aries grit his teeth, "Yes it is an Oracle. And you know they don't work that way! You only get the information that the Oracle provides. There is not normally time to do anything with the information."
Surtur stretched his arms, "Well I would ask if or when ever you see your Oracle again. If you had before today, you would know that this is hopeless for you. You have already lost. I am marrying the lovely fire princess. I am going to bring all of her together. Once I do, you will not recognize her. Then I am going to marry her again. I bet you did not even know you only possess one part of many. There are seven of her running around out here in this grand old world right now. Each writing their own story. She did not even know she was a fire princess till just now. She is about to be mine, all mine! I do mean every little last bit of her. This is just the first piece of her puzzle. I still have seven more pieces to go. So lets hurry this up boy. I do not have all day."
Aries smiled as he relished the fight ahead, "You run your mouth a lot. What is the reason behind you telling me all of that? You do not intimidate me. You can not intimidate her. She is not your wife. She is mine and she knows it. She is honest, loyal, and trustworthy. So if your done trying to manipulate things lets get to fighting."
Surtur laughed, "Loyal! Do you even know what she has done to you? Look at her! She is thinking about what she did while you were away right now. Loyal! You have got to be kidding me. She slept with your brother! She even enjoyed it. Didn't you dear? It's okay I don't care. But once you marry me, I expect loyalty. If you sleep with anyone else, you better be ready for the consequences."
Aries looked at me and I burst out in tears. I ran off from the arena in tears. I was wrong, I was not ready to tell him! I could not even look myself in the mirror. I ran straight back to my tent and pulled the furs over my head. I laid there and sobbed
Aries looked back at Surtur and in a deep guttural voice he said, "If you know that much then you know she was tricked. She had no way of knowing it was not me. She let herself enjoy because she thought it was me!"
Surtur took his fighting stance, "HA, HA, HA, HA! The first time he raped her yes. But the times after that while she was locked in the house and did not know how to get out. Well that was different. She forced herself to enjoy it. And in so doing made herself fall in love with the ugly GOD. HA, HA, HA! The best part is that was all your fault. She did not realize she could get out of that castle for days. He took her many times during that. Even though she tried to hide. He would leave and come back. It was just as bad as letting the cat out in the bird cage. HA, HA, HA! I have to say though thank you." Aries looked bewildered. Surtur laughed again, "HA, HA, HA! The battle is half won with her now. There are always three challenges to a woman's heart. First there is the mental challenge. I have already won that. Next there are any previous or current love's or lover's. So getting rid of you takes care of that. Three is winning over her family. Once I win here she is mine to marry. Then all that is left is getting her to open up and I will physically claim her. Then she will be completely mine. And I have you loosing to thank for it. Now as you said, let us get this over with."
They ran at each other. Surtur being a expert with magic knew exactly what to do. As soon as Aries got up close enough he would either grow to gigantic proportions or shrink to miniscule sizes. Aries did have the same ability but could not keep up with Surtur. Eventually Aries Threw his sword to the side and tried to just use powers. Surtur knew this trick too though. Surtur used his magic to make Aries sword float in the air and chase Aries around. Aries caught on quick and did the same trick back to Surtur.
They kept exchanging blows like this until they both decided that maybe magic was not the best way to solve this fight. They both stopped for a second and worked on catching their breath. Surtur put out his hand to Aries, "Alright, maybe we are pretty well matched in the magic arena" Aries laughed but did not take his hand, "What do you propose we do then?"
They both thought for a moment, and then both said out loud, "a battle of will!" (a battle of will is kind of like a starring contest but they have something completely different in mind.) In this battle of will both Surtur and Aries will be given a boulder to hold over their heads. The first one to drop their bolder loses. Godly powers are being taken into account. They can do absolutely anything to each other as long as they don't drop their boulders.
I came back to the arena after I had my cry. I wanted to see If there was a winner yet. To my surprise, They were standing in the middle of the arena with the boulders held above their heads and all sorts of things flying around each of them. From feathers tickling, to pans pounding them on the heads, to rope slashing them across the back. It looked like a scene out of a comic book or looney toon cartoon.
I could not help it. I fell over laughing. The moment I did both of them turned to look at me. A piano came out of nowhere and slammed into Aries knocking him off of his feet. He fell over and barely caught a falling boulder. The piano came in for round two. Aries threw the piano in the air and tried to get up. The piano was faster than him though. It slammed into him again knocking him out. Then for good measure a frying pan came in and pounded him in the head a dozen times or more hard. It was so loud it sounded like a melon cracking with each blow. Then the boulder landed on him.
I screamed out in terror, "NO!" Surtur sat down his boulder with one arm. "Well that is what you get when you use a real boulder and not a magic boulder. Mine weighs three pounds. Yours weighs three tons. Lesson learned; I win! Joy is my wife now. So sorry, not sorry." Surtur stood up and grinned at me. I crumpled down to the ground, out cold. My body could not take any more. My brain shut off.
