"You called mom?" Lisa came into the living room.
"Yes, I just wanted... You look flushed. Are you ok?" Inez quickly run up to her daughter and put a hand on her forehead "You are a little warm... maybe you should go to bed?"
"No it's just..." damn, she couldn't just say she almost kissed Rae "... I ran a little bit, you know how red I can get if I run"
Her mother still looked at her suspiciously but let it go. She showed her some papers on the table.
"Look, I found some old plans for the florist cafe. I was really into this project once upon a time" she looked sheepish. Lisa hugged her mom.
"Let's do it! We live in XXI century! We can work and be as successful as men"
"Ok, Let's look for some places and do research. We gotta make a good business-plan"
They spent the night working on their dream project and eating cookies. Happiness was written on their bright faces. They fell asleep together on a couch, surrounded by papers, hugged and happy.
In the noon someone knocked on the door, awaking them. Lisa quickly rised and opened the door. Rae stood there waiting with his hands in his pockets.
"Hi! Do you need something?" She looked at him surprised. He rarely came near her house.
"Hi! I couldn't find your... you... couldn't find you anywhere... and I thought..." he blushed intensely and kept his hand on the back of his neck.
"Oh, we were working late into the night on a project... do you want to come in?"
"No!" He almost jumped "No, no... but I thought you might like to eat breakfast with me? I prepared lunch but I guess it can work as a breakfast..." he started mumbling. Was he... embarrassed? Lisa smiled.
"Sure. I'll be outside in a minute?"
She quickly changed into her light purple dress. The skirt barley reached her knees. It was ideal summer attire. She grabbed her hat with purple ribbons to match and run down the stairs. Her mother went back to sleep so she just covered her with a blanket and went out.
Arael was already waiting. He held a small yellow flower in his hand. He handed it to her and grabbed her hand. She accepted the gift and his hand. She thought it couldn't hurt to just hold it for a while...
They reached a beautiful meadow filled with various flowers. Butterflies and bumblebees were slowly flying through the air, pollinating the flowers. In the middle there was a blanket and a basket...
"A picnic?" She asked out loud.
"Did I get overboard?" He was red. She also began to feel heat in her cheeks. Wasn't it too romantic?
"No, no! Let's sit down..."
O god, was he prepared! He pulled fresh waffles out of the basket and handed her a glass. He filled it to the brim. Scent of apples filled her nose.
"Cider? Trying to get me drunk" he chuckled
"Trying to get myself drunk, you can switch to juice if you want to" he reached to take her glass but she showed him her tongue and took a sip. It was refreshing.
Time flew as they joked and talked about everything. She was feeling a little dizzy. At this point she was lying with her head in his lap. He was looking her deep in her eyes. She could kiss him.
He suddenly sighed. His face became serious.
"I will be leaving tomorrow" The urge to kiss him was gone. She shot up from his lap and looked him dead in the eyes.
"And you are telling me now?"
"I couldn't bare to tell you earlier... I'm sorry"
"Will you... will you come back this summer" his silence answered her question. She felt tears forming in her eyes. How could she be so stupid? She was not supposed to feel anything, yet... she really liked him. He was such a good friend and... maybe...
She stopped this thought. No. Nothing more. She stood up and ran as fast as she could, leaving him behind. He only looked after her.
"I'm sorry little Wolf. I gotta make sure you'll be safe first. We'll see each other soon"
