After leaving the living room, Raine went straight to her bedroom to freshen up and await the arrival of her personal assistant but she never thought that she would arrive that early.
Five minutes after she came out of the shower, there was a knock on her door and she opened it to reveal April.
"You are back."
"Yes Madam. On my way back I met Mr. Joe. He was planning on entering the dungeon and he was accompanied by a few abled men."
Raine stared at April and understood what she was driving at. "Where was Rose?"
"Rose was still there when I left. She was the one interrogating Justina and the other lady. I personally handed Rosalina to her."
Raine nodded her head and showed that she had understood all April had said and had hinted at. "You don't need to inform me about her situation from now on. I trust that she will survive this trial and she would not want me to waste precious time worrying about her situation. There are other important things we need to do."
"Yes Madam!"
"Wait…you said that you saw my uncle?"
"Yes, Madam."
"That is good. I was wondering how I could lure him out but he has delivered himself to me. I'll think about what to do later, for now, get the report about Bleu Raine for me and prepare yourself to meet with someone tomorrow."
"Madam, I thought we were meant to travel tomorrow?" April asked confusedly. Usually, Raine would have double checked their traveling itinerary and made sure everything that everything went as had planned but she hadn't mentioned a word about it.
"No, we cannot leave the city for now. Too many people are monitoring my movements and as you said, my uncle is around. It would be weird if he didn't pay me a visit soon." Raine replied with an evil smirk. "Nevertheless, I can always send someone home in my stead and I already have a person in mind."
"Is that whom I am going to meet with tomorrow?"
"Yes, I will send her address to you tomorrow afternoon. I'll be expecting your report on the restaurant and her presence when you visit me tomorrow evening. You can take the morning off." Raine said indifferently and April paused.
"The morning off? Then who would assist you? Rose is already busy and you don't cope well with new people." April interjected in concern but her tirade was stopped by a glance from Raine.
"I can survive by myself and your job is more important. Moreover, I will not be going to work tomorrow so you need not worry. Miranda is very well abled to accompany and assist me if there comes a moment when I'm in urgent need of help." Raine replied before moving over to her bed to lay down.
As April noticed she was ready to sleep, she checked the time on her wristwatch and realized it was past eleven. Time had passed by too quickly. "It is quite late Ma'am, I will not infringe on your sleep anymore. Have a pleasant night rest Ms. President."
"Hmm, it is too late to move around. Let Miranda allocate a free room to you for tonight. You can be on your way tomorrow." Raine commented and April nodded her head in relief.
It was too late indeed and she was already feeling stressed from everything that had occurred earlier that day. She was not looking forward to the hour drive back home. Sleeping in Raine's house would not only lessen her stress but she could also eat a warm meal instead of thinking of what to make.
"Thank you, Ma'am" April said before leaving the room in search of Miranda.
Raine covered herself and switched off the room light. She lay in bed for a while as she found it hard to sleep. Sitting upright, she lit the incense candle her mother had given her to use whenever she had insomnia and went back to her former position.
As she closed her eyes and drifted into sleep, she hoped that the next day would go just as planned; that day had given her enough surprises to last a month.
**********************************************
For the first time in a long time, Raine woke up late. She was roused up by the incessant knocking on her door. She sat upright and told the person to enter her room. She was not surprised to see the intruder was April because she knew that Miranda wouldn't dare interrupt her if she slept in late as she was aware of her insomnia and of how rare it was for her to sleep in.
"Sorry for disturbing your rest Madam. I am about to leave for my home, do you have any other instruction for me?"
Raine scrunched her face in thought as she mentally browsed through everything she wished to accomplish that day. Upon remembering something, she nodded and pointed to her desk. Upon returning to her room the day before, she had penned down a letter expatiating on her instructions for April and the directions to her maternal family house. The letter she wrote was there in a cream, unstamped envelope, laying vertically to the right of her keyboard.
April moved towards her desk and picked up the letter.
"Read, memorize and burn." Raine commanded and April nodded. She was already used to that method of keeping information confidential.
Once April was sure she had fully memorized the information that was of relevance to her, she placed the envelope back to its former position then approached Raine with the letter in hand.
The incense candle Raine had lit the night before was still burning beside her, April placed the paper on the candle until it caught fire then she placed the burning paper on the ash tray that was beside the candle on Raine's bedside table.
Before, Raine instructed her, April picked the ash tray and the ash present on it to the bathroom. She flushed the ash, washed the ash tray, and then brought it back to its original position.
"I'll be on my way now Ms. President and will bring your guest straight to your home before resuming to work."
"No, there would be no need for that anymore. I have changed my mind about heading to work today; though, I will head out later in the morning. You will be working from my home today." Raine replied and April nodded before bowing to excuse herself from her presence.
