She was vexed that Lilith wasn't cooperating. It was not like she had wanted to do what she was doing to Rosalina. In fact, if they had given her ten heads then she still wouldn't have dared to touch Rosalina, especially in Raine's home so she didn't understand why Lilith was being too obstinate.
"I do not care if you've been given the right to harm her. The Young Miss is my mistress and I must protect her even at the loss of my life." Lilith responded with a straight back.
"Lilith!"
"Hmm…is that so? So you want to die? That is so easily fulfilled."
Raine and Rosalina spoke at the same time and everyone kept quiet. Rosalina looked towards her sister with widened, fearful eyes. The more she stared at her sister, the more her eyes redden and became teary.
"Sister…" She croaked with a dry throat.
"I don't have a criminal as my sister," Raine responded with a hardened face and icy eyes and Rosalina could feel her heart shattering into different pieces. She had never been spoken to like that before by Raine so it was too much of a shock to her.
"What are you waiting for? Continue with your interrogation. I would like to see who dares to stop you from your job." Raine commanded as she glanced at April and April gulped before pushing Lilith out of the way.
Lilith noticed the severity of the situation and kowtowed in front of Raine. "Young Mistress, Young Mistress! Please have mercy! This servant is ready to do anything in exchange for the safety of my Miss."
Raine watched her beg and cry for a while before she spoke. "Hmm…what about the death you spoke about some minutes before?"
Lilith paused her actions and smiled wistfully. She thought back to everything her miss had done for her ever since she had been given to her and smiled. She was very willing to die in exchange for the safety of her miss.
While she had been serving under her, she had been treated like a human being and like her younger sister. She had never wanted for anything, had attended the same schools as she had, and had even been offered the opportunity to be a model and actress just like Rosalina was.
If anyone was to ask who she was most grateful for then it would undoubtedly be her miss. Her miss was more than a master to her; she was her best friend and sister and she knew that that was the same way Rosalina felt about her as well.
"If that is what it takes then I will die for her!!" Lilith spoke each work with conviction and unwaveringly strength.
"No! I forbid you. Raine, please don't listen to her. You can take me away and punish me in any way you want but please leave her alone. She knows nothing and is very innocent." Rosalina screamed as she tried to stand up and run over to her sister but was pushed back down by April.
"This is very interesting! April wasn't able to get you to confess anything but the thought of your maidservant suffering was able to get you to say something?"
"Raine!!!" Rosalina screamed with red crazed eyes full of hate.
"Don't worry dear sister. Your servant will be safe as long as you speak. However, I don't know what would happen otherwise." Raine replied with a megawatt smile.
"Miranda, please take our dear guest into the special room. She has obstructed us way too much and we have limited time."
"Raine! You betrayal, you just said.."
"I only said that I was not going to harm her in as much as you speak. I never said I was going to let her go. Why would I let my hostage leave? I am not that stupid."
Miranda did as Raine had ordered and dragged the screaming and struggling Lilith away from the room. The only people left in the living room were Rosalina and April.
Raine walked closer to Rosalina, leaned in close to her, and smiled at the enraged expression she had on her face. "I love this expression. It must have taken you years to perfect it huh?"
"Years? I am not that incompetent sister. It took me moments, just moments you hear!!" Rosalina responded with gritted teeth, her expression unchanged.
"Haha" Raine murmured unconvinced. "Good luck in prison. Don't worry about Lilith. I'll keep her locked in the room and she would be well catered for. Just think about how you would survive by yourself in the dungeon."
"I promise you I will but I want something in exchange Raine. If I come back out without disgracing our family then I want to spend a whole week with you undisturbed and you'll have to grant me fifteen wishes for each of the fifteen days I spent in the dungeon." Rosalina said quietly.
Raine moved backward and stared intently at her sister's face. She searched her face for a while before smiling and turning towards the fast but silently, approaching Miranda.
"Young Mistress, she has been settled into the room but I had to give her a tranquilizer for her to calm down," Miranda said with her head bowed.
"Hmm, I expected as much. Good job. I want the keys to her room, nobody is permitted to leave or enter that room without my permission."
"Yes, Ma'am" Miranda replied as she handed over the keys without a fuss.
Raine retrieved the keys from her hands and turned back to look at Rosalina one last time. "As someone who holds affection for you and once thought of you as her dearest sister, I really hope you do not make me nor my subordinates exert a lot of pressure on you before you speak the truth. Even if our relationship would not remain the same, I hope you do not damage your face and lead to the end of your career."
Rosalina listened to what her elder sister had said and couldn't help the tears from running down her face. She had an epiphany of what it would feel like to be abandoned by her family and she felt like she couldn't breathe. The emotions that were running through her being were too much and too unclear for her to understand. All she knew was that she felt like she would faint any time soon from the pain she was experiencing.
The figure of Raine turning her back to her and walking away from her left her with a lot of inner demons and she collapsed onto the floor inelegantly.
April felt sad to see Rosalina so deflated and lifeless but she knew it wasn't her position to speak so she hardened her heart and mind and spoke icily to Miranda. "Ms. Miranda, please get the security in her to apprehend the criminal. I have to bring her to the dungeon immediately."
Miranda nodded and went out to get two hefty able-bodied men. Within two minutes, she was back with them. They re-handcuffed Rosalina and carried her out of the villa as she had been unresponsive ever since Raine had left her alone in the living room.
April watched as she was loaded into the car and flanked by those security men that brought her out of the living room and sighed. She still had a lot to do so she couldn't let what was going on weigh on her mind. Besides, her allegiance was to her boss and not to Rosalina.
However, this experience had allowed her to understand a bit more of what Rose had meant whenever she told her that things weren't always as they seemed. She finally understood that there were families whose matters were as deep as the ocean, not everything that looked simple was that simple.
