Kyle left the private room almost immediately after their discussion leaving Raine alone in the room.
Three years ago, when Raine had been made the CEO of one of the subsidiary companies under her cooperation, she had handpicked Rose to be her secretary and had from that day given Rose the possession of all her phones.
Raine had never gone anywhere without the accompaniment of Rose and now that she had April, even if there was an occasion in which she had to separate from Rose, she could always contact her through April.
Which brought Raine to her present predicament. In order to have a private discussion with Kyle Wiener, she had sent both Rose and April away but now that she needed them back, she had no means of contacting them.
In annoyance, Raine pressed the small button that was installed into the center of the table.
At first, when she had become Rachel's partner, she had not taken her new job seriously as she had no interest in running a restaurant no matter how prestigious and well spread it was. She had just been a dormant partner.
However, that had changed when Rose had discovered during one of their dinner meetings that one of the waiters serving their private room had been wearing a recorder.
To prevent the reputation of Bleü Raine from being tarnished. Raine had decided to become more active and she implemented a new serving system for each of the private rooms.
The first step she took was to further allocate more divisions in ranks in the restaurant. The waiters were divided into two; those who were specifically trained to serve the private rooms and those who provide services to the public.
The trained waiters were not trained to serve their patrons but rather to take their orders and that was why small buttons were installed into the tables in each private room.
Those buttons were connected to a particular phone in the service room and each waiter had been designated a phone. Whenever the button was buzzed, the phone connected to that particular button would ring and the waiter in charge of the table would pick the phone.
As the waiters were not meant to enter the room, a small booklet containing the menu of the day was placed beside the button. On answering the call, each waiter was to re-inform their patron about the booklet.
Numerous printouts of the menu were made available to the waiters so their job was to tick the food ordered by their patron and call the kitchen to report the choices back to them.
Once the kitchen received a call from the service room, they noted down the serial number of the phone that rang and buzz a delivery person to deliver the food to the corresponding room.
To prevent the privacy of their patrons from being disturbed, two bodyguards were placed in front of each private room that was in use and they were to screen every person that was to enter the private room and to temporarily impound every device other than phones and all metals or pieces of jewelry worn.
Even the workers were to submit all their devices and belongings to the security room in the restaurant the instant they resumed work.
They were only allowed to use the devices given unto them by the Restaurant and any worker caught using a device that they were not contracted to use would result in a direct sack.
Ever since she implemented these improvements, things had been moving smoothly.
Raine got a reply to her call almost immediately from a female waitress.
"Hello, good afternoon. Please how may I be of any assistance? There's a small booklet beside the button and it contains our menu for today. Please go through it and let me know your orders." A sweet angelic voice answered the phone.
"This is Raine speaking. Please get my secretary to visit my private room ."
The waitress was about to object to the mission when she suddenly remembered that the private room she was presently in charge of was exclusively used by Ms. Raine.
The instant she remembered, she answered affirmatively, left her station to someone else, and personally went in search of secretary Rose and assistant April.
Raine had sat down hopelessly for about ten minutes before the door to her room was opened. Looking up she saw a delivery lady bringing in some refreshment and food and she felt relief.
As the delivery lady was arranging the food on the table, Secretary Rose entered the room and was surprised to see her boss alone.
"President Raine, he left without eating?"
"Yes, it seemed like he was a bit busy."
Raine saw Secretary Rose's crestfallen state and became a bit confused. 'Was she looking forward to dining with him? Should I get her to call him back in that case?'
Meanwhile, Secretary Rose was sad because she had thought the blind date had been another failure. Raine had always dined with the suitors but this time she did not which told Rose that it was an epic fail so she was sad.
As she sat down to serve Raine some food, she spoke to Raine. "President Raine, do not be disheartened! I will make sure to have the report on your desk in three days, no, two days!!" She had said with sudden confidence that confused Raine.
"Ohh... that would be good. Thank you, Rose."
Rose smiled in response and drank a bit of her tea which reminded Raine of her mother.
"Secretary Rose, did I get any messages or calls from my mother today?"
Rose placed her cup of tea on the table as she furrowed her eyebrows in thought. She thought back to the confusing call she had answered for Raine and told her. "Actually, she called once to ask about you. She asked if you were in the office and seemed a bit sad so I told her you were out for a meeting and asked if I should call you back to the office for her but she said there was no need to mention her call to you."
Raine put the spaghetti she had forked down and glanced at Rose. Her mother was not someone to behave like that which was probably why Rose was concerned. Raine scrunched up her nose in a frown and thought deeply about what was going on in her family that could have warranted such behavior.
She was unable to find anything so she sighed. "Rose, Kyle might try to contact you later. If he asks for my number, please release it to him and book a flight back home for me around 2 or 3 p.m tomorrow. I'll go back to find out what's the problem personally. Also, help me investigate the movement of the other branches of my family and report anything suspicious back to me."
"Yes Ma'am" Rose replied solemnly.
