"How dare you befoul my family with your filthy existence."
Damien said, his eyes were filled with cold disgust on the woman who struggled to stand up. Popping sound of bones was clearly heard from the woman.
Her left foot was facing backwards while the other was twisted inwardly. Her face started cracking and in those cracks revealed a dark gooey substance that let out a foul stench. It smelled like the rotting corpse of a rat.
Her long tongue that was extended out reached down on her stomach and was wiggling like a worm doused in salt. Her eyeballs fell down and in that dark empty sockets were filled with maggots.
It was a horrendous sight that made Ryo gag, almost making him vomit out all the food he ate that day. His eyes were filled with tears as he retched from the sight and smell of that disgusting thing.
His sensitive senses only made it worse. He was hiding from afar to watch the fight unfold but he didn't expect that that phantom would transform into such a disgusting creature.
He had the urge to just leave this scene but he wanted to witness how things would go. Like watching a movie. He even prepared popcorn and drinks to enjoy watching but to his utter dismay, that horrendous sight just had to be seen by him.
He pushed away the refreshments he prepared for himself since he already lost his appetite. He even plugged his nose with his handkerchief but he could still smell the pungent scent emanating from that phantom.
The phantom let out an ear piercing screech, seemingly angered on how things unfolded and mindlessly attacked his father. Damien smirked as he defended himself from the barrage of attacks from the phantom.
"I guess feeding on my son's power for years made you strong enough to fight me. However…"
Damien pulled out the phantom's tongue and slammed her on the ground so powerfully that it made the ground crack from the impact.
"...it's still useless against me." Damien said and pierced the phantom's chest, accurately finding the bead of life force of the phantom.
The phantom let out a painful howl as it trashed about wildly, trying to throw off Damien's hold on her but it was to no avail.
The high priest who had been chanting ever since the fight started, shouted at Damien when the magic circle above Damien and the phantom glowed brightly, ready to launch the magic.
"Damien-dono, it's time!" The high priest shouted.
When Damien heard the high priest's shout, he didn't immediately let go of the phantom that was trying to escape from his hold, instead, he looked up at the magic circle above them that was glowing brightly, as if waiting for something to happen.
His eyes narrowed when he felt the magic fluctuations and the moment the magic was about to hit them, he immediately smashed the phantom firmly on the ground and quickly went out of the firing range.
Any average vampire would surely die if they attempted to do the same thing he did. It was fortunate that he was of noble blood, making him able to move faster.
Although he managed to evade the magic on time, his hand was still caught up and was now scorched from the holy magic. His self healing worked slowly since it was a holy magic that damaged his skin.
The phantom was howling in agony as it was exposed to the light magic. It tried to move out of the magic circle but failed because the phantom was gradually getting weak. The phantom was unwilling to die just like this.
The phantom's senses were heightened due to getting backed to a corner. She sensed a not so weak life force nearby and immediately looked for it. She could feel that it came from a young vampire with noble blood running in it's veins.
The phantom spotted Ryo's location and used every last bit of her power to possess Ryo out of desperation. Ryo noticed a mass of black matter rushing towards his direction and was stunned. Before he could even move, Zilthai emerged from his shadow with an angry snarl and attacked the black matter.
"How dare you set your filthy sight on my liege!" Zilthai roared as it devoured the black matter.
The phantom tried to fight against Zilthai but since it was already weakened, it was helplessly devoured by Zilthai. Ryo gaped dumbfoundedly at the sudden turn of events.
He was surprised since it was his first time seeing Zilthai in a battle, although it looked like Zilthai was just having a meal. Zilthai quietly retreated into Ryo's shadow as if nothing happened.
Everyone was stunned when the phantom managed to get out of the magic circle but was even more stunned when they felt that it already perished.
They didn't see how Zilthai devoured the phantom and also didn't find out that their little young master was spying on them.
Damien wiped away the filth on his hands as he approached his sleeping eldest son. He looked at the high priest.
"How's my son? Is he free from that filth now?" Damien asked coldly but the worry in his eyes was evident.
"Yes, Damien-dono." The high priest confirmed with a reassuring smile.
Damien sighed in relief as he carefully picked up his eldest son and vanished from the place as quickly as he came. The vampire knights that accompanied Damien who had already finished clearing out the monsters nearby, also retreated along with him. The high priest used a teleportation array to go back to where he came from.
The night was silent once again, as if nothing happened. The only evidence that a fight broke out here was the ruined altar and the deep pit on the ground caused by magic.
Although the fight was already long done, magic particles could still be slightly felt around the area, thus proving that a fight indeed transpired here. When Ryo felt the scattered crumbs of holy magic in the air, he felt uncomfortable.
It was only natural since holy magic does not mesh well with those who have a dark attribute. It made him feel as if he was forcibly pulling up the jeans that were already too tight for him, stuck on his thighs. It made him feel slightly irritated and suffocated.
It was no wonder that vampires don't like to interact much with people who have a light attribute. Some vampires are even hostile to those with holy attributes probably due to the discomfort they feel.
Those who were hostile were only a small number. Majority would just prefer to avoid creatures with holy magic as much as possible. The only one who could dispel the discomfort they felt was the Saintess/Saint.
Due to some unknown reasons, when vampires interact with a Saintess, they don't feel the discomfort they usually feel, instead they can feel a warm, soothing energy emanating from a Saintess, making them feel comfortable.
However only a few people could only see a Saintess since a Saintess must stay in the temple all their lives to maintain the purity of their mana. The mana in the temple and the mana outside are different.
The mana in the temple, especially by the Saintess' courtyard is pure. The pure mana amplifies the power of their magic that's why Saints are usually more powerful than the other people. Their mana is pure due to the blessing their God had bestowed upon the temple and the Saint.
Since the mana outside the temple is not blessed by any Gods, the purity of it was much lower. Once the Saintess absorbs the mana outside the temple, the Saintess/Saint would be poisoned, since they were never exposed to that type of mana ever since they were born.
Ryo, who was lost in his own world, suddenly felt a movement behind him. He didn't panic since he felt that it was someone who he was familiar with. Finally snapped out of his daze, he turned around to look but was left dumbfounded when he saw the unfamiliar face.
He can't help but slightly raise his guard. Ryo was sure he had never seen this person before but he could feel that that person in front of him was someone who he was familiar with. He had never felt this confused ever since arriving in this world.
"Who are you?"
