Heavy.
That was how Gisele felt about the silence that had played on for about an hour between her and the young lady seated before her. She had arrived at the cafe Brenda had chosen and after sitting here for an hour, both of them had not said anything since then.
She didn't want to rush the girl as it seemed there were questions she was wanting to ask. Once again she was dressed in a dark hood, a pair of sunglass obscuring half her face and a face mask covering what was left of her facial features.
After sometime she lifted her fingers and took the face mask off and also took of the glasses. Her eyes checked Gisele cautiously and uncertainly. The girl seated before her looked familiar but she had been through a lot lately that her mind was fogged with so much and she could not remember where she met the girl.
"Do I know you?" She asked curiously.
Gisele nodded "we've met twice already, so I could say yes"
Twice?
That means it wasn't just the previous night.
"We passed each other at Glamour studio, sometime backed." Brenda didn't need to ask cause her expression was asking so Gisele just explained to her.
With the mention of Glamour studios, her memories were immediately jogged. Her eyes shot open surprised as she exclaimed "it's you! The One who helped me get a session with Mr Williams!"
"i couldn't withstand you looking pity. It breaks my heart that you did not listen to my advice of always keeping a smile on your face" Her words were a confirmation to Brenda's question. This sophisticated lady was indeed the same beautiful girl that had been a guardian angel to her that day.
Gratitude hung over her face like a curtain. She showed a bitter smile and bowed her head. What a chanced meeting. They had met like that before and we're getting to know each other in such a situation again. Perhaps were they fated to familiarize on such grounds.
"Miss Gisele, I couldn't be more grateful for that time. You had helped me in my time of need like an angel. But this time..." She didn't finish her words. Her eyes portrayed the doubting words she wanted to utter. She was not sure Gisele would be able to solve the situation by being a VIP. Her doubt were not unfounded. She has reached out to prominent lawyers but yet none of them was confident enough to take the case. They all said the case was in a statement, especially on her side. So how could she suddenly believe that a twenty-ish year old lady would be able to accomplish what those vastly experienced lawyer's couldn't.
Gisele did not mind her disbelief, even she was not too sure her plans would work flawlessly but it was better to try than do nothing.
"I'm not overly confident in my skill either. I have gone through your documents and your situation is indeed a bit tricky. There is absolutely no loophole in it to show that it was not signed by you. Proving your innocence in a literal way would seem almost impossible. But I do have a plan. If you trust me, I would do everything within my power to help you".
Brenda stared at the girl. A hint of curiosity in her face. Her thin lips pursed into a straight line. She spared Gisele a few more glances and chose to swallow her words.
"What of your Manager?" Gisele inquired.
A slightly regretful gaze flashes past Brenda's eyes. She sighed silent and her shoulders slouched exhaustedly. "He's running around trying to find evidence that I wasn't the one who took the payment. Otome magazine CEO has given us a deadline, by the end of the month, if we don't comply to the terms on the contract, he would release a public statement announcing my default to the contract" There was more to the issue than these few words she has spoken. While she was at the center of the issue, her manager/bug brother has had it rougher than her. He was just a small time Manager in their company,, so not only were they not interested to help but the company's management had also warned that if the official statement from Otome magazine was released, that they would terminate his contract and hers too and also sue them for defamation of company's reputation.
How could he not be worried after hearing this? He had given up his whole life to manage her career, if they were suddenly kicked out, that would mean an end for the both of them.
"call him back. We'll meet when he's back and I'll share my plans with the both of you." She ordered in a suggestive tone.
Brenda looked at her with a complicated gaze but still nodded nonetheless. Gisele exchanged numbers with her and went ahead to give her a few more advices. Listening to how she laid down instructions for the lady, one would mistake her to be a very capable Manger in the Entertainment industry, even her dressing gave off such a vibe.
Coincidentally Brenda could not also bring herself to reject any of the girl's instructions. She attentively listened and nodded to her words with full submission. The kind of aura the girl emitted was one she could not say no too, plus weirdly enough the girl had managed to get her to directly trust her even in these few minutes of sitting and talking with each other.
"Since that would be all, I should take my leave. Don't forget everything I said. Once your manager is back give me a call and we could schedule a meeting" Gisele said with part her attention on her phone calendar.
She had no manger to take care of her own schedule so she did so herself. On her calendar she had marked out important dates she had things to do. The Final audition for the Erasmus Magazine was in two week, during the period, she also had selected days she had organized with Mr Williams to take classes with the tutor he had gotten for her. Because of the type of role she was taken, the classes had to roll on for an intensive two months before the shooting finally begins. He also had events to attend with Mr Collins as the ambassador for his studio. There was that yearly pictures gala and she was mandated to go. If she also happened to pass the Final audition of Erasmus, her calendar would even be more choked up that it already was.
The email they had sent to her had clearly stated that a hidden advantage of passing the audition was that you get to be selected by any of the brands featured in the magazine to represent them at the Autumn fashion show. That was a whole lot of work in her side. She could see the vacant days getting even lesser than they already was. Still she had no regrets helping the girl before her.
She said her casual farewell and prepared to leave but the girl's gentle voice made her halt a few steps later.
"Why are you helping me?" Brenda asked, her tone so silent it would almost have gone unnoticed if Gisele wasn't paying extra attention. If one didn't know better, it almost seemed like she was asking herself the question rather than asking Gisele.
A clueless smile stretched over Gisele lips. To be clear, she had no idea either. Somehow seeing the lady in this situation made her very unwilling to leave her like that. She would probably be eaten up by her conscience for a long time if she ignored the lady's predicated.
Did she perhaps owe this lady a whole lot in her past life?
She tilted her head to the side and glanced at the girl still seated at the table from over her shoulders. A bigger grin that appeared playful took over what was left of her smile then she spat "Do you want to know the truth?"
Brenda nodded holding in her breath, as if she was afraid to be disappointed with the truth. Shr almost wanted to forget she asked the question but her sheer will held her waiting for the answer.
"I'm bored"
I'm bored...
Gisele was long gone minutes after spouting that but the words still echoed in Brenda's ears like it was just being said. Soon enough a knowing laugh escaped her lips. She held her forehead and chuckled to herself for asking such a stupid question. Now she finally understand that popular saying. What was it again?
'Good people don't need a reason to be good'
This lady perfectly explained these words. Right from the first time they met, she had helped her without even looking back and now she was going out of her way to help her.
Good. Good. She absolutely with not forget this. Even if nothing turns out the way they expected, she would not forget the hope the beautiful girl had brought to her heart once again. Even if it take her last drop of blood, she would repay this kindness she had received.
