It's Andy's usual day in the last week of November. She is in her room getting ready for school. Andy is in her senior year of high school and will graduate in four months.
Her phone suddenly beeps while she is fixing her hair. On the screen, it says "It's a match!"
"Hmm who could it be."
"Breakfast is ready, Andy!" Meryl exclaims as she knocks on the door, preventing her from opening her phone.
"Coming!" she shouts back.
She puts on her light make-up and walks into the kitchen. Her father was sitting on his chair, sipping his morning coffee and reading the newspaper.
"Good morning dad" Andy said. "Eat faster, honey, you're almost late for school. Jun will be the one to drive you to school."
"Sure. But dad don't bother to pick me up later after school because I have to go to the mall to get something for a school project." Andy lied.
She isn't going to the mall to get something for school; instead she and her friend are going to see a movie at the theatre.
"Okay. Just get home before it gets dark." Her father replied.
It's 7:55 a.m. when she arrives at the school gate. Her class begins at exactly 8 a.m., so she dashed to her classrom. Fortunately, she arrives just in time before her teacher walks into the room.
"You're always late, Andy" her seatmate Lily said.
"Nah. Almost." then they giggled.
The bell rang, indicating that it was already lunchtime. Andy and Lily went to the cafeteria for lunch.
While eating, Lily mentioned to Andy that she was going to meet with someone she met on Tinder. That's when Andy recalls receiving a notification on her phone earlier in that day that she had matched with someone.
"How long have you two been talking? Isn't it risky to meet with someone you met on the internet?" she inquired, concerned. Even though she uses tinder, she has never met anyone personally because she is afraid something will go wrong.
"Hey, don't be a baby. It's already 2018! And of course, I'll make sure that the place is safe enough that if he tried to do something bad, we can easily run for help. And besides, you're going with me. I know you wouldn't let me go alone." Lily replied with a wink, knowing Andy would not say no.
Andy breathed a sigh of defeat. "Okay, alright, when is it?"
"Later in the afternoon after school."
"Wait a minute, we're supposed to watch the movie later!"
Andy couldn't believe Lily when she said, "We can watch the movie with him."
"Are you going to make me a thirdweel?"
"Well I can tell him to bring an extra friend for you." Andy scoffed at her friend's response.
"No thank you. I'll be fine."
Andy just focus on her meal and scrolling through instagram when a notification appeard.
"Keisler sent you a message."
"Keisler? Who is that?" she wondered. She opened the message and recognized him as the guy he matched with on Tinder.
Her brow furrowed as she reads "(・o・)" in his chat. "Is he still using emoticon? Weird." She copied and pasted his message as her reply. She didn't pay much attention to his chat and returned to instagram.
As the time passed, they realized that lunch was almost over, so they both decided to walk back to their classroom.
