A Gary Stu character plagues this world. Bai Lianhua remembered that Gary Stu was slang for a man, who was seemingly perfect in character with no flaws, or who always overpowers other characters. This man's name was Long Aotian. But Bai Lianhua's client was actually one of the women he eventually married. The story goes like this: Long Aotian was the son of a poor scholar and he intended to go and sit the imperial examinations in Nanjing. He had no money and his father had no money either. The only resourceful person in the family was Long Aotian's mother Long Ting.
She took advantage of Long Aotian's good looks and got him a very rich wife. The rich wife, Li Zhenzhen came from a family of merchants and she fell in love with Long Aotian at first sight. Knowing that he wanted to do the imperial examinations, she used money from her own dowry and sent him on his way. Long Aotian became champion of the exam and entered the emperor's sight. Various ministers sent over their daughters in an effort to gain favour with him. Long Aotian ended up with one main wife and five concubines all of whom had a higher status than her. They were: Lu Weiwei, the daughter of the minister for war, Wen Lili, the daughter of the minister for agriculture, Feng Minyan, the emperor's daughter, Wang Xiuying, the daughter of the head of the imperial army and Fang Lianhua, the queen's palace maid.
You can already guess how the story ends. Long Aotian reaches the pinnacle of his life, rebels against the emperor and becomes the new emperor. He pushes for vigorous reform and is known as the best emperor in the history of emperors. All his concubines loved him, other people's wives loved him and everyone was loyal to him.
This seems like a good story, right? So why is there a need for Bai Lianhua if everything went so smoothly?
Turns out that Long Aotian had a system! Yes, he was a tasker! But he was a rogue tasker and not employed by the current space-time bureau. His system was actually a love system and his goal was to get all the most powerful women in the dynasty to love him. All of them ended up as his concubines and his wife was also included in the list. Once those women loved him, he robbed them of their luck and this allowed him to gather enough energy to move to other planes.
The point is that when a woman was in love with long Aotian, it was like their IQs reached the negatives. No matter what anyone else said, they just had to be with long Aotian regardless.
This is where the client comes in. Fang Lianhua was initially the empress' dowry maid and she entered the palace when the empress married the emperor. She worked hard and the empress appreciated her. When she turned 20, the empress wanted to arrange a marriage for her. At the time, Long Aotian had already married the other four wives and he needed support from the empress. So he did some tricks and made Fang Lianhua fall in love with him. Fang Lianhua repeatedly opposed the empress' choice and wanted to marry Long Aotian.
The empress was furious of course but she closed one eye and let Fang Lianhua marry in as a concubine of the lowest grade.
Even though her status was not high, it was still higher than Li Zhenzhen so she was not badly treated at first. But her troubles soon came with the schemes that the other concubines plotted. She was framed for poisoning the princess, framed for pushing Li Zhenzhen in the koi pool causing her to miscarry and framed for cuckolding Long Aotian. Long Aotian defended her and she was grateful but he said he needed to still punish her on the surface and told her to remain in her residence for a full year. During this time, he used these schemes to make others question whether the queen should be the mother of the country if her dowry maid could be so vicious. The empress lost her seat and was demoted to a noble concubine. What's worse is that Fang Lianhua's parents and brother were all killed to soothe the empress' anger. With no relatives, Fang Lianhua was truly alone and with no backing, people treated her coldly. She often went days without food and water, her clothes were all old and the other concubines would come by and ridicule her.
Long Aotian still treated her nicely and she regarded him as her world. Then when he regained the throne and became emperor, she thought that she would finally be able to lift up her head. But then Long Aotian brought in the head of the Fengyuelou to be his concubine but because her identity wasn't high enough, he kidnapped Fang Lianhua and exchanged their identities.
Because her luck was so little, Long Aotian absorbed it ages ago. He decided to abandon her and kill her. She was forced to drink poisoned wine and write a suicide note. Once she was dead, Long Aotian got others to throw her body to the wild animals and he went back to be the respectable emperor.
Bai Lianhua called out the system: "Am l immune to this kind of charm? I don't want to fall in love with such a ruthless man. Also, did this man ever truly love any of the women in that world? Maybe, l should try and seduce him?"
The system laughed out loud: "Let me ask you a question. Would you fall in love with a pig?"
Bai Lianhua shook her head.
"There's your answer. This man only sees these women as NPCs that give him luck. You can try it but it probably won't work. If your charm is higher than his, you can be immune but you should also buy the heart clearing mantra. It can help you have a clear mind in the face of his charm. You can buy it for 5 points."
Bai Lianhua refused to buy it: "I just hope my charm is higher than his."
Her task in this world is to prevent her family from dying and prevent the empress from being deposed. The system once again condensed her soul body into a ball and then threw it into the client's body.
When Bai Lianhua opened her eyes, she saw that there were many people around her getting things ready. There was a woman combing her hair nicely and another was putting pink lipstick on her lips. The rest of the women were getting her dowry ready and Bai Lianhua knew that today was her wedding day.
"Well...this sucks. It seems that l have to marry this man." Bai Lianhua didn't have much of a plan but she wanted to warn the empress before she left.
She motioned to one of the other servants standing by and asked her to go to the empress: "I have a message for her." At this time, even though the empress was furious, she still liked Fang Lianhua. So the servant didn't dally and went to call the empress.
