Slightly, she opened her eyes. After years of suffering, she felt... hope again. She didn't know from where that hope came. Actually, she wasn't even sure whether that was a feeling of hope or not. But that sensation... ah, she had felt it before. She felt it once.
There was a time when humanity was just a bunch of walking trash for her. When she thought that she found the most disgusting trash in the world, she would find one even more disgusting.
It surely wasn't the time when she suffered the most, but the time when she wasn't mature enough to bear that suffering without complaining inside her heart every day. Throughout time and maturing, suffering just became something usual to her. Torture was her everyday meal, sadness was the dessert, and agony filled her insides like oxygen after each breath. However, not anger; not anymore, at least.
Why get angry? She didn't have the power to fight against the people that were doing such things to her, after all.
