Dean got paralyzed once he saw that man standing there. His heart skipped a beat and his breath was taken by an unknown force. He would have lost strength in his legs and probably fallen if not for Claire being there. Although the latter was just holding his clothes, he felt like she was a strong pillar maintaining all his structure standing still.
'T-Thank you, Claire,' he thought as he bit his lip and forced himself to keep walking forward.
'Dad...', he said in his mind, looking intently at the back of that man, remembering how many times he did it when he was a kid and saw his father walking away to go to work.
His heart skipped a beat again as his mind flashed with memories of his past, of how he got along well with his parents even though they didn't talk too much nor showed clear signals of affection.
