Both swordsmen noticed that they wouldn't find many opportunities while locking their blades like that. It surely wouldn't be the best choice to spend energy in that pointless contest of strength. This way, they maneuvered their swords at the same time, diverting one another's strength to the side, and crossing ways due to the momentum.
Dean stomped hard on the ground to stop himself. Judging by the proficiency and speed that Perseus showed, he knew that the next attack would come in some seconds. Once he could stop himself, he spun his body to look backward, just in time to see that Perseus did the same maneuver and was already swinging his curved sword towards Dean's throat.
Dean didn't lose time and swung his sword as well, fast enough to parry his attack upwards, opening his guard. Without faltering, he took that opportunity right away and thrust Excalibur forward.
