It was a very dark room. So dark, that she couldn't even see her own hands. So dark that, at times, she couldn't tell whether her eyes were open or not, even when she opened them widely, even when she closed them tightly. The darkness was confusing her mind, intoxicating her heart, and shattering her spirit. That was how darkness acted, after all.
She knew how the world was out there. She knew that the night fell for way more hours than the day lasted. It was not equal anymore. The sunlight was a sight of just a few hours, nothing more than that, sometimes even less.
A girl afraid of the dark, but that lived in a world of darkness. Could it be crueler? Could it be more ironic?
'And they call themselves servants of light, yet they lock me inside this room. What's the point of it?' she thought. Now, she was used to thinking even when she was sweating profusely and breathing erratically due to her fear.
