Dean, again, was looking at the entrance of the cavern, a chill running down his spine as he noticed that the blizzard barely had diminished its intensity. It was still wild out there. He couldn't imagine what kind of dangers were lurking inside that blizzard.
'Dreads that evolve and can walk into the blizzard, also as effectively hunting humans into it, are the worst ones. I heard bad stories about them, though I myself never saw one personally. By the time a harsh winter like this one reached Saphyr, I was still working at Nemesis with Nero. Inside the safety of a refuge, I wouldn't see a single Dread of that type. Besides, I was more worried about issues inside the refuge rather than going out there to hunt Dreads, so I needed to deal more with humans at that point.'
Dean never needed to deal with the winter outside a refuge. All the times when winter befell Saphyr, he was safe, under the protection of walls and warm blankets.
