Susan had her eyes secretly opened as Clay peeked inside her tent just to make sure that she was safe. She pretended to sleep not because she was indifferent about his state. On the contrary, she cared so much that she preferred to prepare herself a little longer before she went to see him. Susan had the feeling that he was very hurt.
'He is limping... I can hear his heavy breathe as well. And, if I concentrate... I think I can hear him moaning,' she bit her lips, feeling a searing pain in her heart. She was trembling all over just by imagining how was his state.
'You pushed yourself too hard again, didn't you?' she thought as her eyes watered with tears and she cried silently.
'You idiot... Clay, you are an idiot! Don't come here all hurt every time! Can't you see how guilty I feel every time you do this kind of thing? Can't you see that I am suffering with you as well? How would you feel if you couldn't do anything for me while I hurt myself trying to protect you?'
