Two guards were patrolling the walls of a certain refuge in the midwest region. It was a small refuge; one of the plenty that you could find out there. Those walls weren't the safest ones since the material which was used to make them wasn't that resistant.
Those guards were there in case of a Dread approached their refuge. If something like this happened, they would ring a huge bell placed right beside the gates, warning the population to evacuate as fast as possible.
That was the protocol that they needed to follow every single time a Dread approached. There wasn't any way in which they could defend themselves from that threat.
