Once those round objects fell to the ground, everyone knew that it was time to back away again. They didn't need too much time to sort out what was going to happen.
Rick's group was the first to retreat since Rick predicted already that it would happen. Crow's and Alan's group lasted a whole second to realize that they needed to get distant from those things.
Just some seconds after they bounced on the ground, those round objects began to explode in waves of electricity that filled half the perimeter of the laboratory. Some scientists and Ascendants were caught on the edge of that affected perimeter, but nobody died in that process.
They could get away just in time to stay alive. If they couldn't do it, they would surely die with such a strong discharge.
Rick smiled once he saw the effects of those grenades.
