Dean needed to find another place to settle down after the battle against the Spider-naja Dread. He got a bit hurt due to its final attack, also tired because of all that running and dodging across the tunnels.
The boy couldn't deny that he was lost as well. Not that he wasn't before, since he isn't acquaintanced with that cave and never knew which path he should choose. He just traveled randomly and oriented himself in order to not walk in circles.
The only reference point that he had was his perception. He always paid attention to the "Chaos" inside that cave. The lines of that energy undulating in the air were crucial for him to choose a path where there wouldn't be too powerful Dreads.
While he was still quite weak, it would be difficult for him to fight with overly strong Dreads, so it was better to back away a little now.
He just got out of a battle as well, which was another good reason to forget about fighting.
