Chapter 115 - Chapter 115: Releasing

'I need to do this... I need to do this... I need to do this!' Dean prompted himself.

He must do something in order to take everyone out of that situation. The boy wouldn't afford to die there.

The figure of his mother passed on his mind, making him tear up. She was never smiling, but her presence made his heart so light, even only in his imagination, that Dean couldn't be more glad to have her as his mother.

Then, his dad. Right beside her, like he always was. Dean's father was his very idol, an example of an adult, father, and husband. Dean wouldn't become the person he was if not for him.

His friends and acquaintances, together with his parents, pictured a happy scene in his mind.

That was the scene that he wanted to see in real life and he wouldn't die before he could see it again.

Dean wasn't willing to let his life get taken there, not by just some average Dread.

'I killed a freaking lion, lived day after day like a slave, and struggled to exhaustion just to get stronger. I won't die because of bad luck!' His light brown eyes shone as if fire was ignited inside of them.

'I can't count on that thing that happens with "Chaos" and my body. Not now. Not with an energy that I don't even know how to control. I need to be smart.'

Dean reasoned quickly about the place where they were. He memorized a great part of the map, at least on that region. If he was not mistaken, they were near...

'That's it! But, for this, I need to do something crazy!'

Hector and Clay were struggling to survive and get out of that siege. The Dreads were getting more and more thirsty. Their assaults became bolder and some attacks were landing.

Kevin and Rick were nearly falling to their knees due to exhaustion and many wounds on their bodies. Thanks to his power, Rick was able to make a pile of corpses around him, also as fighting the Scythe of the 5th generation on even grounds. However, he needed to use nearly all his reserves of "Willpower" to do that.

Despite being entirely focused on the battle against the Dreads, they couldn't prevent noticing the sudden change in the atmosphere.

Even the Dreads switched their attention from their future meal to look around.

'W-What is that idiot doing!?' Rick thought, looking directly to Dean.

The boy was releasing high quantities of "Willpower" from his body. Let alone the exaggerated amount of energy spent, he was basically wasting it. He was literally just releasing the energy, not using it neither for reinforcement nor anything else.

"D-Dean!? Hey, you useless brat! I know you can hear me! Stop it, stop!" Clay lost his patience, getting worried about his own life. He began to smack Dean on his face to get him real, but the boy wouldn't pay attention to him.

Dean had his eyes closed and was completely focused on releasing all his energy pool without restraints.

"H-Hey! You are attracting them here! You are attracting all of them! Heeeeeeeey!" Clay shouted.

In the final scream, he stepped toward Dean while swinging his dagger. He wouldn't let the boy mess with him anymore. If he continued like that, he wouldn't die alone, but take Clay together.

Dean abruptly opened his eyes and swiftly moved his hand.

The dagger stopped centimeters near his face as he held Clay's arm.

He glanced at the man, pissed off.

"If I was trying to kill you, I would get stopped by Emperor's Touch, master." He spoke, gritting his teeth.

"W-what are you planning?"

"Stop using "Willpower"! All of you!" He shouted.

Rick knew what he was going to do. In truth, it made sense since they were dealing with Scythes. However...

"Don't try to be the hero here, you jerk! You will just kill yourself and make these guys come back afterward pursuing us!" He shouted.

"What?" Dean parried a dangerous attack of a Dread who was on the edge of jumping onto him and eat the boy as soon as possible.

"Do you think I will die for you guys? Cut the bullshit." He pointed his sword at Rick. "I will come back alive and smack some sense in your head, master! Just you wait for this!"

Rick clicked his tongue, looking around.

Dean's "Willpower" was, indeed, attracting those Dreads like moths going after light. That amount of energy was too exciting for them, so they were just appreciating the feeling now. Soon, they would attack him, so Rick had a short deadline to decide something.

"Kevin, Clay, Hector!" He clenched his fists. "Stop using your energy right now!"

After hearing that, Dean sheathed his sword, attaching it to his back. He continued to release his "Willpower" at full force, then began to run through the lines of Dreads in front of him as swiftly as a cat.

He managed to avoid their attacks with ease since he knew where they would possibly aim and was used to their average speed.

'There is something that, not just Scythes, but any Dread can't ignore: Their natural instincts. Scythes in particular are very greedy to eat humans, not just because of "Willpower" but because we have a good taste for them, it's the base of their diet. When releasing this amount of energy, they can't just ignore me!'

In a flash, Dean appeared running outside that siege.

The Dreads got agitated, worried that he would escape.

The Scythe of the 5th gen was eager to get him as well, ordering his subordinates to go after that boy. Just a few ones were designated to stay there and fight Rick and his group.

Dean looked behind and saw that 80% of those Dreads were chasing him, which was a good signal.

'I don't know if it will work but... that's the only choice we have.'

The boy rushed through the black fields, praying to get into the place that he wanted.
