Hector got flabbergasted with that feat. Personally, he wanted to avoid his gaze from that scene. He didn't want to see how strong Dean became in a so short period of time. It made him want to puke.
'In terms of power, he isn't stronger than me. Not the least. I could beat him just using Drain. After all, I doubt that his reserves of "Willpower" would be enough to withstand how much energy I can drain. Even so, it won't last too much time until he can catch up...'
Hector thought that Dean would stand there for a while and rest, but the boy was relentless.
Once he split that Dread in two, he turned to see what was happening on the battlefield.
Kevin was still holding three Scythes. He usually would be able to fight against other Dreads and subdue them while acting as a tank to their party. However, against Scythes, he was especially weak because they had amazing speed.
Rick was still battling against the Scythe of the 5th generation, which was the strongest one of all others. That Scythe wasn't ordinary at all. The blade of Rick's sword was getting dented after each clash. Even when their leader could hit him, it wouldn't have enough strength to surpass the natural armor of the Dread.
He didn't have enough distance to use his chain properly. The only thing that he could do was use his spell "Iron Serpent" and attach it to the monster's legs and arms to prevent it to attack or move too much. However, it could easily free itself.
Clay was helping him in long-distance. His arrows were capable to hurt the Dread, but he couldn't aim at him precisely. It moved too swiftly, so it was hard to target that beast.
Dean wanted to help them and fight a Dread of the 5th gen again, but he didn't know if it was worth it.
'Kevin is going through a hard time there. If I can help him, then we both can go support Rick to subdue that stronger one. I won't be greedy here and act logically instead.'
Kevin had his spell "Titanium Armor" activated already, also as "Hatred". The three monsters were completely focused on him, and their swift attacks couldn't surpass Kevin's defense that easily.
Nevertheless, after several minutes of fighting against them, Kevin wasn't able to stay unscathed. He had several cuts all over his body, though none of them were lethal.
His sword needed to be wielded with his two hands and was quite heavy. Until now, he could count on the fingers of one hand how many blows he could deliver on that battle.
The bulked man was gritting his teeth while staring at those three Scythes attacking him synchronized. He wanted to find an opportunity to counterattack, but they didn't let him space even to breathe.
"Open!" He heard someone shouting behind him, also as hurried steps in his direction.
Without even looking behind to confirm or thinking too much about it, Kevin leaped to the side, opening space for anyone who was going to pass.
He didn't recognize his voice in the heat of the battle, so he got surprised when saw Dean passing by him as fast as a bullet.
The boy used the force of his impetus to give a wild swing that hit one of the Scythes, opening a huge wound on its chest. It was strong enough to break through its armor and reach its internal organs.
Dean changed his pivot foot, shifting his weight and swinging back his sword. It reached another Dread on his right side. The latter tried to defend with his scythes, but the strength behind the blow was such that it blew away those two claws and struck its shoulder.
The Dread screamed in pain, flapping its wings desperately.
Dean, though, didn't end there.
Instead of pulling his sword, he twisted it, opening that wound even more and dislocating the shoulder of that monster.
Kevin came afterward, unleashing the final blow that killed the Dread.
Now, just one remained alive.
However, afraid that he wouldn't be able to match those two, it flapped its wings and flew away as quickly as possible in a clumsy way.
'Ok, now...' Dean turned to that Dread of the 5th generation. 'It's not whenever that we have the opportunity to fight a Dread from the 5th gen... Let's see what it is capable to do!'
That Scythe of the 5th generation wasn't a big deal such as the Lion that Dean fought a couple of months ago. In truth, it was still in its early days on the 5th gen, so it wasn't too much developed. Maybe it didn't even evolve yet.
After every generation that a Dread could go through, it meant that they would have enough "Chaos" to evolve. It was a process that could last more time for some Dreads and less time for others.
Some didn't eat much through their lives and just lived constantly hiding, so it would be more difficult to reach the amount of energy necessary to evolve.
That Scythe was a hunter, so it could evolve in some days or a couple of hours.
The lion from months ago was a Dread who evolved long ago and was used to his body and the power that it had, so he was far stronger.
Anyway, Dean was excited to fight that Dread. Despite not evolving yet, it already showed the increase in his physical abilities and was giving a hard time to Rick.
Together with Kevin, he ran after that Scythe, flanking the monster.
Dean was now used to the battle formation of the group and the way that they fought together.
'It's time to see if my train is really paying off. I have been trying to improve my techniques with "Willpower" ultimately. I think that now it's finally time to use THAT thing again!'
Dean was a bit apprehensive but excited to see if he would be able to see results from all that daily struggle.
