It was early in the morning at that refuge, which meant that it was still very dark out there. The noon would still last to come, so that people needed to wait a couple of hours more to receive their daily taste of sunlight after so long immersed in the darkness of that extended night.
Even though the concept of day and night was a mess to the humans living the Crimson Apocalypse, they were still trying to live their lives in the most standard way possible since the beginning of that tragedy that would continue even after seven centuries. That is, independently if they had sunlight or not, they would follow the clock accordingly to how it was before that phenomenon of the extended night.
The only thing that prevented them to follow this fully was the fact that they couldn't make too much noise while it was still dark. The Dreads were always lurking around the walls, after all.
