The storm lasted for one month and a half yet after the previous events. Nobody was expecting the rainy season to be so long on that year. People were getting depressed already due to the lack of sunlight in their lives; nearly three months of darkness befell Saphyr, after all.
Although the statistics weren't shown to others, the number of suicides raised a lot in the past months. Crimes were getting more common in all refuges. People were getting driven crazy.
Also, a lot of other refugees were wipeout off of Saphyr's map, simply because there were not those six hours of sunlight to make the Dreads get in idleness. The attacks of Dreads were constant, and since they were awake continuously, their bloodlust was higher than before. They needed to eat more humans to get satisfied.
