Lucas did not let go of Lillian all throughout the car ride. He stayed with her, holding her close while she rested on his chest. She was breathing slowly but still conscious. Her usual phobia of guns was starting to ebb, her heart soothed by the fact that Lucas was safe and sound. His presence was reassuring to her and washed away all her earlier fears.
They were sitting in the backseat in silence while one of the guards drove them towards the hotel. It was a little past 2 PM by the time they reached the hotel.
Without a word, Lucas picked Lillian up in his arms again. She only moved closer to him, burying her face in his neck. She was blushing like a bride, the proximity making her stomach flutter. Several guests were staring at the couple, amused by the open display of affection. Lucas did not care about the attention because he was focused on Lillian and her wellbeing.
