Chapter 31 - Monster

The two people in front of Doragon had caused real damage to Doragon's heart.

Just a moment ago, Doragon was still wondering why the black-armored knight beside the human had disappeared.

After a long time, the black-armored knight was again resummoned by Copperfield.

After just a few hours, the human in front of Doragon had reached the two-star high-tier.

He had long heard that a human's cultivation talent was much higher than a dragon's.

But this difference was much too great!

He had cultivated in this mountain range for ten years before even reaching the three-star power.

The human in front of him, in just a few hours, had jumped from two-star mid-tier power to two-star high-tier?

The world outside was so dangerous. Why not just stay in this Magical Beasts Mountain Range?

Based on Copperfield's training speed, wouldn't he reach three-star tomorrow and be able to fight against me the day after tomorrow?

Not to mention the day after tomorrow.

Even now, the two people in front of him gave him a sense of danger that felt no less than a three-star high-tier monster.

Moreover, why does a summoner seem to be stronger than the creature he summoned?

Doragon had never seen a mage class carrying a two-handed sword on their back.

This was not Doragon's fault. Even in a human city, no one had seen it before.

However, since he knew that the thunderclouds above his head were not a threat, Doragon was prepared to hunt some magical beasts on his own. After all, due to his own training, he had not stepped out of his cave for a long time.

"I was just joking. You do your thing, I'll go hunt some magical beasts."

After saying that, Doragon spread its wings, stirring up waves of dust and smoke, and was about to fly up.

"Wait."

Copperfield opened his mouth and called out to Doragon, who was about to leave.

Doragon cautiously turned its head and heard Copperfield continue speaking.

"Do you know the area nearby where fire-type soul power is particularly abundant?"

Doragon thought for a moment and pointed out a direction for Copperfield. Then, he spread his wings and flew towards the center of the volcano.

The fire-devouring beast that lived in the center of the volcano region was Doragon's favorite prey. This fire-devouring beast was a magical beast that looked like a seal. Its meat was delicious. The reason why it lived in the center of the volcano region was not that it was powerful, but because it was very resistant to heat. It could even swim in the lava, and its strength was around two-star mid-tier.

Although Doragon could also dive into the lava, it would not feel comfortable doing so. After all, not every fire-type creature would love the extreme heat.

Seeing Doragon spread his wings and fly away, Copperfield began to prepare to go deep into the volcano region to search for the heart of the lava.

According to the direction that Doragon pointed to, it was about a hundred miles to the west of the volcanic region.

Copperfield dismissed Nameless and summoned Midnight.

The current Midnight had four hooves, a mane, and a tail which were covered in dark red flames. His body was surrounded by black and red soul power fluctuations.

This meant that after Copperfield possessed the soul power of a certain type, he could also increase the powers of his summoned creatures.

It was still unknown whether it would have such an effect on the contract. Copperfield might go and experiment on it in the future.

The most important thing now was the heart.

Copperfield crossed on Midnight and headed towards his destination.

A moment later, Copperfield dismissed Midnight and stopped in front of a crypt.

In the huge crypt, gelatinous magma flowed slowly within. Occasionally, huge bubbles would appear within the magma before bursting apart. Wisps of flames spread out along with the bursting of the bubbles.

Even though Copperfield's affinity with fire was already very high, standing in front of the crypt, he still felt his mouth and tongue dry. The heat was scorching in the surrounding area of the lava.

If given his body before, he would have been unable to withstand the high temperature of the crypt and would have retreated.

Looking at the surging lava world in front of him, Copperfield frowned slightly.

The fire-type soul power in this region was sufficient for him. However, he was unable to enter the lava physically, so how was he supposed to find the heart of the lava?

Even so, Copperfield still planned to enter the crypt to take a look before making any plans. If the high temperature in the crypt was really unbearable, he would retreat when the time came.

Copperfield controlled his fire-type soul power, wrapping it around his naked body as he carefully walked into the crypt.

The temperature in the crypt was terrifyingly high, causing Copperfield to feel as though he was in a furnace. Fortunately, after absorbing the Flame Crystal, Copperfield was no longer afraid of the corrosion of the fire-type poison. Otherwise, it would truly be difficult for him to move even an inch.

However, even if he ignored the corrosion of the fire-type poison, there also wasn't much oxygen due to the high temperature in the crypt. After walking for some distance, Copperfield felt a little dizzy.

Fortunately, after traveling for a while, the crypt suddenly became wider and bigger. Although the air was still scorching hot, he could breathe better here than in the tunnel.

However, Copperfield still had to be careful while traveling. If he accidentally fell into the magma, the result would be... he would probably not even have a corpse left.

Just as he was moving forward, Copperfield's heart skipped a beat. Bells rang loudly in his mind, and he immediately retreated quickly, far away from the magma in front of him.

In just a split second, Copperfield's powerful soul perception seemed to have sensed that there was some kind of creature under the lava watching him.

Without having any time to think too much, a column of lava shot up. As sparks flew in all directions, it seemed as if a snake-shaped creature had jumped high into the air. Seeing that its attack had missed, the creature quickly dived down into the lava.

Copperfield frowned. If he had been a step slower, he might have been successfully ambushed by the shadow.

But now, Copperfield was in the opponent's home ground, so he did not dare to recklessly go forward. After all, if not for his powerful soul power just now, Copperfield did not actually see any unusual movements under the lava before the shadow launched its attack.

This meant that the mysterious creature had an extremely powerful concealment ability to hide beneath the lava.

Copperfield cautiously looked at the lava around him.

Suddenly, ripples appeared on the surface of the lava. The mysterious creature once again broke through the lava and shot towards Copperfield, who was standing on the bank.

As this monster moved, a massive amount of fire-type soul power stirred around its body, bringing out numerous pillars of fire from the surrounding lava, completely breaking the calm of the lava within the crypt.

At this moment, Copperfield finally saw the true appearance of the creature before him.
