Chapter 22 - The Landlord

"Although I find the report you showed me very interesting, pay attention to the date on the following report."

"Date?" Justin once again recalled the news report he had read and read before. It said September 15th.

The end of the second trial was announced today, but the author of this report had anticipated the outcome of the second trial a few days earlier? Could such a thing happen?

"Originally, the prosecution wanted to suppress the rumors, but they didn't expect the final result to be exactly the same as the report said. It could be said that it was exactly the same

"Either the author of the report was able to predict the future,

"Or someone intentionally or unintentionally influenced the judge and the jury during the trial, bringing the direction of the matter to the outcome that they had planned beforehand."

Drake continued, "Although I'm no longer a member of the homicide team, I believe that this reporter should know some inside information – and, if nothing unexpected happens, I have a hunch that she may also be at the scene of the crime."

Justin looked at the reports he had collected on his phone and fell into deep thought.

What kind of goal did the Coven have?

It was definitely not just to publicize democracy and freedom to the outside world. Was it possible that they were actively planning some secret plan?

Plus, what was the connection between the girl that he brought back and all of this?

"I'm leaving first, Drake. I'll buy you a drink some other day."

"Anytime."

After bidding farewell to Drake, Justin hurried back home. He carefully walked into the bedroom and found Catherine still sleeping quietly on the bed, but she had taken a big gulp of the glass of water.

It seemed that it was unlikely that he would take her statement tonight, so it was better to wait until she woke up the next morning. Justin turned off the bedside lamp and tiptoed out of the bedroom.

When Catherine woke up, it was already noon the next day. She held her forehead, which was splitting from a headache, and pushed away the quilt covering her body.

Looking at the strange scene in front of her, God knows what she had experienced last night. Catherine regretted drinking that can of beer she took out of the box.

Although "L" was classified as an alcoholic drink, its alcohol content was only 3.8%. It was not nearly enough to cause a hangover. She pushed the quilt away and got out of bed, ready to move her stiff body.

She opened the door and stumbled out into an empty living room, but there was a note on the dining table that seemed to be left for her to read.

"Although we do not know each other, please rest assured that I did not do anything to you. I only saw that you were drunk and felt that I should protect you, so I took you home without your permission. There's a pizza on the table."

Catherine was amused by the owner's clumsy tone. He did not even take off his shoes.

"But the handsome italics are interesting."

Catherine took a piece from the pizza box and stuffed it into her mouth. Then she found a pen and a note on the table and wrote her reply on the inside of the pizza box. Finally, she tore off the note with the message on the table and left Justin's house with the pizza still in her mouth.

Fortunately, this time she met a decent man, at least he would not touch her. If she had been kidnapped by indecent people, Catherine's life might still be in danger.

At least one thing was certain, the beer in her hand yesterday was very suspicious, she even suspected that someone had drugged her.

She left Justin's home and walked onto Time Avenue. Now Catherine could only pray that Forest Park had not been cleaned up yet, or she would not be able to find any clues.

Unexpectedly, after a few steps, Catherine found that it was cordoned off by the police.

Catherine's cell phone rang. The number was still blocked.

"I hope you had a good day yesterday, Your Majesty." The familiar greeting made Catherine feel relieved.

"Right, so what in the world happened here?"
