Dagon emptied the storage ring onto Jack's counter as they entered. All the loot of the goblin hunt spilled out. Jewelry, weapons, and the corpse of the goblin chief.
Jack stared at the mound for a minute, before starting to search through it.
"The weapons are crude, most look to be modified for the goblins use," Jack spoke as he studied the weapons.
"They'll work for beginners or shorter adventures, but they won't get you as much, other than the giant long sword here," he said as he picked up the goblin chief's sword.
Dagon and his party stayed silent as Jack spoke, simply nodding their head in understanding.
"For all the weapons combined I can give you 10 silvers. 3 for the big one, 7 for the rest. The armor is even worse, it can be recycled at best, so I can do 4 silvers for the material."
Dagon didn't expect much for the weapons and armor anyway, it was the rest of the loot that he hoped paid well.
"As for the corpse, the husks are the only part of it worth anything really, but they can pull in a decent price. 5 silvers for the both of them."
Dagon only nodded.
"Now the jewelry is different. I'll have to do all of this individually, as it's all unique."
The greed could be seen on the faces of Dagon's party. They watched patiently as Jack sorted through each piece, taking a couple minutes to study each one.
After almost an hour, Jack finally spoke up.
"Alright, I think I have a good idea on what we have here."
The party worked up instantly, a sparkle in each of their eyes.
"You have 10 items here. 5 necklaces, 1 bracelet, 2 rings, and 2 pairs of earrings. Both earrings were the same, probably a matching pair."
Jack held them up as he spoke. The earrings were silver, with a white round stone in the center.
"The pearl on this necklace seems to be real, so I can offer 15 silvers each."
Jack didn't even pause as he moved onto the next item. Dagon was ecstatic, he'd hit the jackpot with this goblin raid.
Jack pulled out 2 golden rings from the pile.
"Another matching pair, most likely wedding bands. There are no marks or precious stones, but the gold alone makes it valuable. I can offer 1 gold coin for the pair."
Dagon and his party were already dreaming of all they would do with this money as Jack moved on to the next piece.
"A silver bracelet. No precious stones, but the carvings are a work of art. This wouldn't have a hard time selling at all, so 20 silvers is a fair price."
With 4 bracelets still to go, the group had already amassed 1 gold and 69 silver coins. A very large sum for beginner adventurers.
"Moving on to the necklaces," Jack said pulling the group out of their daze. He picked up a silver bracelet as he continued.
"A silver chain, no pendant. It's a very common item, so 5 silvers is the most I can offer for this."
The group had already made more than expected, so the low price didn't hurt their spirits in the least.
"Next, another silver chain. This one has a ruby encased with silver. Ruby's aren't a very expensive gem, but it still fetches a higher price for the beauty of it. 12 silvers."
Jack once again moved onto the next piece right away, leaving Dagon and his party no time to appreciate the piece.
"The last silver necklace. This one isn't as flashy, but the craftsmanship was wonderful. The smaller loops in the chain show the delicacy it was made with. No pendant again, but the craftsmanship can raise the prices. I'll go out on a limb and offer 8 silvers for this one."
With one piece left, the group was on the edge of their seats. The party afterwards already planned in their heads.
"Now the last piece of the day."
Jack grabbed the remaining necklace from the counter. It was a golden necklace, with a large pendant on it. Dagon stared at it, unable to take his eyes off the beauty of the necklace in front of him.
"I saved this for last, because this was the best piece of the bunch. The golden chain was crafted masterfully, like the silver before. The pendant is a large sapphire, encased with gold in beautiful pattern. This piece was clearly owned by someone with money and status. The only problem is the broken clasp, but it's an easy fix so it won't hurt the price too much. I think 10 gold and 30 silver is a fair price for this, considering it'll sell for up to 20 after its fixed up."
Dagon's mouth dropped, along with his 2 companions. The amount of money they'd just made was astounding. Enough to shake them to their core.
Jack smiled as he put the mound of loot away, and pulling out the money they were owed.
"12 gold coins and 26 silver coins, here ya go," Jack shoved the coins across the table as he said so.
Dagon was still too shocked to move for a minute before grabbing the coins and splitting them.
"4 gold coins each is good enough for us," Raj exclaimed. "The other silvers are yours, you did most of the work anyway."
Dagon smiled as he pulled the silvers back to his pile.
"Well guys, I'd say this deserves a drink don't ya think?"
The group cheered as they left Jack's shop. They partied through the night, before heading to bed. It'd been a short trip, but the danger was high. Before splitting up, they planned to meet up tomorrow. The group agreed to a shopping trip to upgrade their gear. With all this new money, they could finally afford some better equipment.
The three of them met at the armory in the early morning. The sound of the hammer hitting steel rang in the streets.
"We all have different things to get, so let's go our separate ways, and meet back here before lunch," Dagon suggested.
The group nodded the heads quickly, eager to spend their money.
Raj and Dagon entered the armory as Lily went her own way.
The two quickly separated from there. Dagon had been thinking about his fighting style since he got here. A magic swordsman was always the class he chose in video games growing up, but something was missing. His defense was lacking.
He didn't want a shield, and magic defense was still out of his league at the moment. The only thing he could come up with was dual swords.
Dual swords were a great option for masters of the sword, but Dagon wasn't quite there yet. He knew he still had a long way to go. The swords were still practical and useful for him at the moment thought.
Dagon searched the shelves for any matching swords he could find. It was the largest shop in Harkon, so it wasn't too surprising that he'd have to search awhile.
It wasn't until he got to the last row that he found what he was looking for.
Hanging on the wall above him were two swords, identical in appearance. They were hung one over the other in an x pattern.
The hilts were a light brown, presumably bronze. The blades had a slight curve in them, making it easier to parry and slip away from incoming attacks.
Dagon looked down to the plate beneath the swords on the wall which held the information of the swords.
Dragon's Fangs the top of the plate read. The swords were made by a craftsman Dagon had never heard of. The blades were made with mithril. The name came from the shape of the blades.
The information was basic, but it was helpful. Mithril was a material he remembered from video games, but it was usually an expansive material.
Dagon went towards the man behind the counter to get a price for the swords.
"Excuse me, sir, how much for the dual swords over there?" Dagon pointed at the swords as he spoke.
"Excellent choice, we just got those a couple days ago. The craftsman requested no less than 1 gold piece, plus our cut, so 1 and a half gold pieces." The man behind the counter smiled politely when he finished, waiting for a reply from Dagon.
Dagon took out 1 gold and 40 silvers and placed them on the counter. "This is what I have, can we make a deal?"
The man stared at at Dagon for a minute, thinking about the offer. "Dual swordsman aren't common around here, so I guess this'll do," he said with a sigh.
Dagon smiled and thanked the man before taking his swords and leaving the shop. They were lighter than he expected, and fit perfectly in his hand. He was happy with his purchase, even if he costed him a lot of his newfound fortune.
Dagon didn't spend much time looking for anything else. His armor was still in good condition, and he didn't need any other equipment at the moment.
He spent his remaining time walking along the stalls, looking for anything that caught his eye, but nothing did. He was content with his new swords for today.
