Chapter 1 - Chapter 1 - I think I died

And I'm kicked out again! I can't believe that Kyrie is soo mean! All I did was pull one little trick on her. I mean I did maybe go a little overboard on the posters of her crush I plastered all over her room, that her prospective boyfriend just happened to see!

Hehe… that was a good one if I do say so myself, but because of that little prank I have been kicked out of the three room apartment that I share with my friends, Kyrie and Michael. I coincidentally met them in high school and by that, I mean I pestered those two weirdos that I thought would compliment (put up with) all my quirkiness until they 'happily' relented and became my friends. So now a few years later and fresh out of college we are rooming with each other.

But back to the issue at hand. Currently I'm whining (more like fits of giggling interspersed with pitiful whines if you know what I mean) at the door of our apartment waiting for Kyrie to let me back in because Michael doesn't care, when our neighbors a 40-year-old woman and her husband yell at me to shut up because it's late and the middle of the night and people are trying to sleep. Now, because I'm nice and it's been 30 minutes I relent and decide to go to the 24 hour diner about eight blocks down the street to eat and wait Kyrie out. Knowing her she'll let me back in only after she has gotten some form of revenge, so who knows how long I'll have to wait.

As I'm walking down the faintly lit street (I mean come on in retrospect I should have called someone about the crappy malfunctioning street lamps running along the building I currently call home), a biker comes out of nowhere, passing me and startling me half death. I then proceed to trip over thin air and the next thing I know I'm waking up in a fluffy bed guessing that I must have knocked myself out oh so gracefully last night and that Kyrie must have went looking for me and found my cold butt passed out on the street. Ohh boy that is going to be one for the record books!

I get out of bed feeling a little unbalanced and chilly and put that off as having fallen and slept on the street last night. I call out Kyrie's name loudly and in a sing-song voice I continue my pathetic apology that must have seeped through the door last night. Not even paying attention to my surroundings I walk towards the door and end up walking into a closet. Man Kyrie must have pulled one heck of a prank, but when I take a closer look at what I originally assumed was a rearranged room, I realize that nothing in this room is familiar. "Where the heck am I?", is the first thing that starts rattling around in my mind.

I start yelling for Kyrie, telling her that this isn't funny when someone bangs on the ceiling because apparently it's four in the morning and we (I know right! We!) have school in a few hours. I feel like I've fallen into some wacky novel, or a reality tv show and it simply isn't funny. I run around searching for the exit and when I find the correct door I escape into a hallway that is foreign to me. I run towards a set of stairs and make my way out of what ever high end Medieval building I've found myself in.

I run out and find myself in the middle of a large campus, so I keep on running until I fall right at the edge of a small pond and as I'm lifting my clumsy limbs out of the slightly wet dirt I see my reflection in the water and have a mini heart attack because what I'm seeing is not my face. It is not the face that I have had for the last 23 years and it is definitely not the five foot four inches that I was so proud of, but instead it's more like I gained five inches, a bust size, and some good looks! I mean I'm not too unhappy, but like how and can someone please stop dumping surprises on me? Then almost as if the universe had heard my pleas and decided it would be funny to do the complete opposite, a little fox with a purple coat and twin tails popped out of nowhere and scared the sense out of me when it started talking.

"Miss Caerellia, Miss Caerellia Atherton, you know that you aren't supposed to be out at night! If the headmaster caught us we would be in big trouble and I don't want to get in trouble just because I'm your familiar. I mean look at how cute I am! Can you see me getting in trouble?"

My jaw dropped and I have to admit that I probably looked quite stupid at that exact moment as the somewhat conceited fox continued on.

"I mean Lia at least if you are going to break the rules put on some proper clothes and don't go running around campus in your nighties! If I weren't here I don't know what you would do… harumph."

I look down and in fact I am clad in just a shirt-like cover and my bra and panties. I'm a little freaked out, as seems to be the pattern because one… talking fox, two I seem to have transformed into a different person overnight, and three I've been running around naked, when a pretty normal school uniform with a skirt, polo, blazer combination suddenly pops onto my body and the little fox continues her somewhat sassy tirade.

"There you go now you have clothes and we can both go back to bed."

The fox somewhat irritated at my lack of response looked up at my stupefied face and said.

"Are you stupid? What are you doing sitting there?! I had to come all the way here to get you and now we have to go back, so you could at least get us there quicker!"

I stare dumbfounded at the little fox and three words trickle past my lips, "Am I dead?", and pass out in the muddy grass.
