Chapter 14 - Chapter 13: Second Connection

"Now, moving onto the Land of Ottobi. There is a sharp increase in the number of rogues in the forests of the land. Innumerable surprise attacks and death have been reported. Authorities found that their main targets are the magic creatures and they are having a hard time in taking a control over the situation. More details in Geovanni Sanhoff's report."

Apparently, the mana stones or crystals, can act like batteries to perform. Not only that, they can also create small fragments of life, which results in mers, nymphs, fairies and centaurs as well as some small other living beings. They are the magical creatures who mostly spend their life distributing their mana to the nature until they perish down.

Here, curses are God's earthly punishment. If you do something that is forbidden by nature's law, then you will be punished. Punishments can vary, like deadly disease until death or illusionary loopholes and so on. The cause is yet to be confirmed but they all can conclude that it has to be either against nature or extremely evil. Cursed humans are witches, cursed shifters are rouges and cursed elves are nyxes.

Falska has a lot of fairies, especially the wind fairies. That day when Brianna said that Falska has some 'Wind issues'... yeah I felt it after a few days.

Fairies have the shortest lifespan among all. And they really live it to their fullest with pranks and mischief. I was walking with Rosemary that day. There was no sign of wind and the weather was hot. Then out of no where, the wind started to gush down and I felt like I would fly away with the blow. I, who is not too thin, felt like that. The wind was ringing with laughter that resembled the children. I frantically looked around. They were really small creatures. Like they would fit in my palm. But man were they fast. Like the wind, those glowing fairies were untouchable.

I was so glad I wore those clothes. After that, I always double checked my outfit before going out on the streets.

I haven't met Silvaris yet. When I came he was already out. The security and barriers have been doubled. Yet it is spell we are talking about. They are like programming codes, can be 'hacked' if done by experts.

Rosemary is my bodyguard. Sandra went to the Royal palace. Here I am, watching the daily news while munching on snacks. This version of tv is a floating screen with borderline. They also have a communication device similar to our smart phone. But instead of charging, they work on mana stone and gets its charge from the user. Very convenient, I must say.

"How good is your magic skill?"

I turn my attention from the glowing screen and look at her, "They are all on theory level except the portal in his study." I see her grin at my word, "Wanna test?"

How?

She motions me to follow her and she takes me to another room all the while typing something on her screen. I look around the room with wide mouth. Tons of different shape and sized mirrors all around and every corner of the room. I look kind of scary actually.

"Here," she stretches her hand, "Ta-da!"

"A mirror?" I look at the unusual shape.

"Mmhm. Not just any one." she moves her finger from left to right, "It is a emergency mirror."

I raise my eyebrow at her words. A maid knocks on the door and Rosemary goes to response. I examine the my reflection on the mirror. Huh? What is with this acne? I should have put on some makeup.

"Take these," She hands me over a glass bottle and a brush while she keeps the roses. They are the reddest ones I have ever seen. "You remember the pattern for emergency connection, right?"

"...yeah?" does she want me to draw that now?

"Well than. What are you waiting for?"

"Can you give your blood in the mixture? I am anaemic." Of course not! I am just scared.

She gives me a baffled look, "Why would it need blood?"

"Is it added then?" it definitely doesn't look any close to red, unless their blood is not red which I doubt. When I twirl the bottle, the density of the liquid seemed just like mine.

"No... Where did you read that?"

"In my grandma's diary. I had to use mine to make the spell work."

"That is only applicable for exclusive spells."

Exclusive?

Rosemary continues, "A spell that is only used by the people of that bloodline. Though it looses its effectiveness after a few generations. So they developed spells that doesn't require blood and also publicised them so that everyone can use them. "

"That's ...interesting."

I draw the pattern, with corrections on lines and circles every now and then. That God the bottle had extra. Or, it was Rosemary who asked to bring extra just in case. Rosemary hands me the flowers and it finally clicked.

"We are going to the palace?" I gasp.

"Yep. They asked me to bring you. Let's surprise them!"

"Umm... is it alright for me to take some time and dress up?" I really look pathetic in these jeans and shirt. Rosemary rolls her eyes.

"Nobody cares whether you look like an enchantress or not."

"There is something called first impression."

"Do you think he will allow?"

"Who?"

"Ugh... we are late already."

I close my eyes and chant.

<< I, therefore, offer my mana to connect this place to the other end and let the mirror guide us to the other end of the loop>>

I open them to find a familiar glow on it.

"Good, now keep up the infusion and go inside."

I do as she says and go inside. It is another room similar to the one I came from.

"You can withdraw now."

I withdraw my mana and feel a little light-headed. Rosemary doesn't waste any time and strides through the room. I follow her like a lost puppy.

"Um... shouldn't you... be a little careful?"

"About what?" Seriously? she-

"It is the Royal palace!"

"Yeah. They're just around the corner." She yanks open the door and just outside, I see Silvaris with a shocked face and an unknown person with equally shocked expression looking at her.

"I bought the hostage. What now?"

"She is not a hostage." Silvaris barks back and Rosemary shows him her tongue.

I look at the other man to find him already looking at me.

"Are you the stranger from mirror?"
