If one aspires power and status in this world, they should be prepared to work for it for the majority of their lives, for nothing comes without consequences and payment in this world. To cultivate and train for higher realms, whether as a demon lord or a demon general, one must recognize that it can take millennia. Even the most basic enhanced demon needs decades, if not centuries, of effort. So if you seek power, be ready to abandon all those you love, for that is what I chose - Quote from the infamous Demon general, Firespear Naama
----------------------------------------------------------
Leigh continued to walk towards the tavern while receiving weird looks from all around. He had noticed that the atmosphere was weird but could not really find the true reasoning behind it and simply decided to go on.
He knew that the people there found him weird from the many comments he heard.
"Who is he"
"Why does he look like that, I've never seen such a race"
"Where did he come from"
"Look mom, its one a fairy tale guy"
There were numerous comments, ranging from positive to negative to neutral. Leigh clearly ignored them all.
After some time, he arrived at the bar he had seen while flying and entered it. The inside of the pub was nothing extraordinary, a couple of tables and chairs, the place was most obviously not built from wood because it had a dark grey colour to it, but it was just how Leigh envisioned it to be.
There were demons of various sizes and appearances everywhere in the tavern, eating and drinking.
As one might expect, the instant Leigh walked in, the gazes of those seated began to fall one by one on him.
After a few seconds, the majority of the tavern's patrons were staring at Leigh, who had not been in contact with many intelligent beings in a long time and was beginning to feel uneasy and uncomfortable.
Everyone's attention was drawn to Leigh as he walked to the counter and sat down. Leigh's mind had already warned him that everyone around him was nothing more than prey, but Leigh didn't want to kill them; instead, he desired a calm relationship, one with which he could feel at ease.
Leigh couldn't speak, which not only made everything difficult, but also veiled him in mystery. Sitting in front of the counter, Leigh began to question why he had even entered the tavern; it is not like he can use a mouth to eat or anything.
He will have to use his body to consume the meal, and he will be unable to swallow liquids such as water or alcohol. Furthermore, consuming the food with his body may worsen the reaction of the demons around him, perhaps causing trouble.
For once, Leigh could not make a decision. Should he eat something and risk ruining the reaction of others further more? With what money should he even buy food, is money even a concept here?
Or should he just walk out since he can not even talk to others? What purpose would it even have to sit here doing nothing? What type of reaction will he see at that point?
Leigh was obviously no longer the cold hearted, calculative person as he was trying to find a foundation in this society in order to feel a part of something. What was he even trying to find? Love? A home? A society that he can be part of? Perhaps all of the above?
As all of these thoughts raced through Leigh's mind, he ultimately concluded that the scenario was too strange and exited the tavern under the watchful gaze of the others. He then returned to the streets and began to make his way towards the guild, hoping that there was something else there for him besides his interest in the guild.
As he entered the guild, Leigh noticed that there weren't many demons there; the guild had no more than seven members, one of them was a sort of staff member. At least, that's what it appeared to be from her vantage point behind a tiny counter with a couple of papers here and there.
Overall, Leigh was expecting a location where many people gathered to speak, drink, and do adventurer stuff, but that was not the case; the guild's atmosphere was more akin to that of a library, quiet and heavy. The folks there appeared serious enough to warrant the title of adventurer or whatever it was called in this realm.
The adventurers, like any other demon, glanced at Leigh strangely for a moment before returning to what they were doing before, a much less common reaction to Leigh. It was actually much better this way; after all, the demons' stares were strange and unsettling.
Leigh was about to approach the counter in hopes of communicating with body language when all of a sudden the door to the guild was opened in a hurried manner and two guards similar to those Leigh saw at the gate approached Leigh.
The citizens as you would call them had alerted the guards regarding Leigh. In their terms, they were just curious and asked the guards about it and in some cases they simply reported what they saw as something suspicious.
The guards at the gate could not conform seeing such a person entering the town since they could remember those who did because it was a small town. This alerted the guards to take action against someone who entered the down in an illegal way. Although Leigh was oblivious to all of this.
The adventurers in the guild including the one Leigh followed and just saw, turned their faces towards the commotion to find out what it was all about.
That was when one of the guards finally spoke with a demanding tone, "show your identity badge".
