Chapter 3 - Behind the painting

The wedding was going through smoothly as planned. Jave was quiet and only spoke when spoken to, with lot's of nods and facial gestures.

It was obvious she wasn't happy.

Penny bustled through the crowd trying to reach her sister.

She ran excitedly without looking at the path she was taking and ran straight into a maid that was standing not far from the cake, luckily she was caught by a passerby which happened to be her father.

Penny straightened up herself because she fell.

I'm sure you're not to young to understand that this isn't a playground Penny, he started at her.

And you most certainly shouldn't be running around.

Sorry Penny whispered

Her father took her by the hand and dragged her away.

Penny was wondering whether she was taken to be punished, but she shook that feeling off, she has never been reprimanded before.

A feeling came to her again, what if he has changed since she'll be the only child remaining now, she gulped.

They came to a stop, Penny's head was bowed and she looked tearful.

What's there to cry about her father said

I can't have two moody daughters today of all days.

Penny dear, try and cheer your sister up. She's making me look bad in front of the in laws.

Penny faced jave with a smile, sure daddy

Jave was getting worked up with all the constant questions, she was glad when her little sis came to the rescue.

Can I borrow you for a bit? Penny asked.

Jave looked at her dad for permission

Sure why not, but don't stay long, we'll be going home soon.

C'mon sis, penny said leading the way.

And where might we be going to, jave asked?

It's a surprise, Penn said with a wide grin

A wedding present?

You can put it that way, though it isn't mine to give, so we're here.

Jave looked around, all she could see was the big painting which looked quite old but beautiful.

And here is where exactly, she said examining the painting.

Penny looked around to make sure no one was near, and pushed the painting forward.

Isn't that heavy.. but her word's was cut short because the purplish porthole just revealed itself.

What is this, she said touching it. It goes through

Uhuh penny said nodding, go in.

Jave was curious but at the same time worried but still went in.

Umm where are we, it's quite dark.

Let's walk towards the light, penny grabbed her hand and led the way.

This time, they came out unto a path leading to a village.

Penny was now confused,

This wasn't here before, she said.

Jave was more curious and continued. The people of the town didn't seem to see them though, and they all dressed weirdly.

All sorts of creatures were around.

A chanda horse came towards jave.

I think that little guy can see us penny said patting it's back.

The horse bowed lower, obviously enjoying the patt.

Suddenly they heard a familiar voice coming from the nearest house.

Some kid's were playing, with a teenager.

Is that you, Penny pointed and gasped.

It can't be, I don't recall ever being here.

But the girl looked like her, every detail was the same. The voice was unmistakably her's too. She stopped playing suddenly and started walking towards them.

You don't think she can see us, can she jave asked.

Jove dear, someone called from the house

Yes mother, the girl who was obviously Jove answered.

What are you doing? The person asked

Thought I saw something, probably the wind playing tricks on me, she answered

Come help with dinner please

Sure, I'll be right there.

She looked towards our direction for the last time and went into the house.

Let's go big sis, penny said grabbing her hand.

Dad will be mad if we're a second late.

Right, my wedding.

They ran back all the way and through the painting.

As Jave jumped out a servant passing by fell backwards.

Where did you lot come from she asked

We've been here the whole time, penny answered.

Are you insinuating that I'm blind.

We didn't insinuate anything, you said it yourself.

Penny chuckled and held her sister's hand once more, they both ran back to the hall.

The servant stood up annoyed and examined the painting, she was certain they came out from somewhere near it, was it a door she thought. She tried pushing the painting. But to no avail.

She got exhausted and stalked off cursing.

Penny and have were back on time.

Jave said her vows to her husband and they were officially married.

Penny couldn't hold her tears in anymore.

She sobbed through the vows and started begging her dad to bring her sis back home with them.

They all had dinner later, and it was time for the parsley's to go home.

Penny stood like a rock while jave said her last goodbye's to her adoptive parents.

She came towards penny.

Hey baby girl,

Hey penny managed to say

I'm gonna miss you, jave said finally giving way to tear's she hugged her little sis tightly.

We have so much to talk about penny whispered in her ears, what we saw wasn't what I saw at first.

Jave stared at her.

I'll write you tomorrow, she continued.

I love you penny.

I love you too javeline.

They hugged for the last time again.

Okay c'mon Penn, let's go her father said. It's getting late.

Penny took her father's hand and gestured towards the carriage.

They all got in and Penny knelt at the back to wave her sister bye.

They both waved at each other for long while touching their friendship necklaces penny made for both of them.

They recited their safe words as the carriage moved farther

"Though apart, never alone, together forever, two sisters as one"

The last tear dropped from javes eye's as the carriage finally disappeared from sight...
