Chapter 2 - The Letter...

Dear Iris,

After much consideration, we are happy to announce that you have been accepted to the Belonging Season show with Billie Showman as your host. When you arrive, you'll assigned with Ethan Carter. In the enclosed letter, you'll find a ticket to come to the Big Apple and be part of this show. All accommodations will be given free of charge.

Sincerely,

Billie Showman.

At that moment, my heart was on hold and took me quite to process. I didn't even write a letter of request. How do they know my name? Is someone spying on me? Questions were flashing through on and on... Before it struck me.

Flashback

"Do you ever wonder if you would like to enter this kind of shows?"

End of Flashback

That double crossed, cheating, lying schemer. She is so dead.

"Tati Jade Winston! What the hell is this?!" I march into the kitchen with an almost crumpled letter in my hand.

"What are you talking abou- oh," her eyes widened as she looks at the paper. She all of a sudden put down her sandwich and started to fiddle with her hands and nails. Does she have some explaining to do cause I'm currently fuming from within deep inside.

"Can you explain to me how in hell's sake am I recieving a letter from a show asking for my presence? And one that involves me being in a 'relationship'?" I quote with my finger the word relationship.

I am bewildered at how everything is going so fast. Just hours ago, I was internally celebrating the fact that I was top of the school and now, I'm internally crying over my doom.

Just fucking great.

"Well I was going to tell you but I figured you would probably kill me so I just kept quiet," she slowly said. That was it. I'm going going to jail and I will be proud of it.

This is about to go south. I sprint towards in full speed. Her eyes became as big as saucers as she just realized that she was screwed. Well, too bad. She starts to take off but I was quick to catch up on her. I jump at her before we both land on the floor in a loud thud.

I quickly grab a spatula, I mean this is the only thing I could find. And I started swatting her with it. "You... are... no... longer... my... friend!" I say while hitting her.

"Ow! Please leave me alone! I'm sorry, I'm so sorry!" She squirms in pain, trying to protect herself from my attacks.

A Few Moments Later

Silence. Absolute silence.

I have had many silent moments in my life but this one was the longest moment of silence I have ever encountered.

And probably the only thing that is calming me at the moment.

After the unfortunate spatula episode, we weren't on talking terms. Even though I still love her and all, it hurt me to know she would do such a thing behind my back. I was livid. But for now, let's forget about it.

Lying on my bed, I kept replaying over and over again the words in that letter.

At this point I was in between crying so hard and laughing out loud. I felt kind of paralyzed by surprise. You just said to forget about it.

I frustratingly ruffle my hair and sit up on my bed. I looked out the window to the sun shining so brightly and the spring season was starting to blossom. The flowers near the school garden were flourishing. The trees were sprouting new leaves and the snow on the grass seemed to melt to the heat.

Two humming birds enter into the scenery as the were chasing each other from one tree to the other, from flower to flower. It was almost touching to see them so lovey dovey. At least they can run away from reality with those wings. I am stuck on the ground as a piece of gum glued to floor.

God I wish I was that free...
