There's something about the word freedom. We all have a love for it and yet we don't understand that freedom in of itself has the cause to so many of life's problems. We seek the light hoping to find absolution only to hate the answers we find beyond the dark. We lie to ourselves saying we'd rather decide our own destiny but fail to even begin it in earnest. Will we ever be able to find the truth behind our own existence if all we do is deny the answer we've already been given? Or will we remain in the darkness forever.
After my run in with Dark, we left back to Seyuta together in his car. It appears the girl took me to an area outside of New Seyuta so thankfully we weren't too far from home. I was still curious as to how Dark knew where I was. Though when I asked him all he said was "I looked around." Yeah not very convincing. But on the bright side I can finally go home. And now that I know the world hasn't ended the optimism in my heart has been reawakened.
Just seeing the paved street back to Seyuta had me feeling ecstatic. But Stark thought I should be educated in the ways of the spirit world that I now find myself in. First thing he thought I should know is that now that I've bonded with him I now have all of his spirit powers. That includes intrinsic skills and the ability to interact with spiritual matter and spirit energy.
By playing the flute I have access to all of Stark, Yule and Dura's abilities. This includes the battle sense of Dura l, Yule's knowledge, and Starks many abilities such as shapeshifting, night vision, etc. according to Stark I've yet to realize my own intrinsic skill. Which fits me excited about what it could actually be. That being said I'd rather leave all this crazy stuff behind. With great power comes terrible opposition. All I can do now is rest and ride while I have the chance. Because I fear I may be in for some trouble when I get home.
We arrive back in Seyuta but not a minute in and I hear Dark say something is rather not heard.
"Uh oh" he sounded like a kid in trouble. I look beyond to see most covering the road.
"Uh oh" Stark mimics Dark
"Seriously?!" I try to see what they're seeing. "What the hell are you guys looking at?" I squint my eyes and see something. A human figure in the mist. Wait no I see multiple. Stellethos. Ugh I saw a large crab one!
"Ugh oh" we all say in unison.
"Nothing to worry bout." Dark smiles. "Well just drive through them."
"That's one way to do it " I brace for impact. But as we begin to drive through them the spirits open up allowing up a path through.
Unexpected but nonetheless pleasant. Dark seemed unbothered.
"This is where we part ways" Dark inclined. "You can stay in the car if you want but I have an appointment with someone not too far away."
I think on it for a bit. But I sense I also need to be somewhere. Something is calling to me.
"I also have engagements " I say to him.
"Well in that case allow me to let you in on something" Dark speaks as we both exit the vehicle at the police station. I look around and see ghostly vine like tendrils covering the area. I don't see Drake's car so he must be out.
"This area is covered in a very thick fog of ghostly miasma. This is usually caused by something called the Susurri. It's a demonic entity that is attracted by strong spiritual power. It in itself attracts dark spirits. Be careful as there are many in the area."
That was a mouthful of annoyance. I have a feeling he wants me to do something.
"Alright. Let me guess." I start. "You figure I deal with this said Susurri and…"
"Well" he chuckled "by deal with I hope you mean destroy. This thing is deadly to living beings. It starts by sapping your will with its pollen then sucking you're soul with invisible spores."
Well shit.
"You're protected though. You and that Snake should be more than capable of dealing with it." He closes his door. I follow suit. "Make sure you burn it afterwards. Keep it from sprouting up here again. I'd deal with it myself but…"
"Yeah I get it" I pull out my dagger "prior engagements"
"Indeed you are correct." He smiles. "Make sure you do survive the encounter. I heard it has a tendency to play with its food." He points in the north west direction of the town "it should be located that way. It likes to call to people with strong spiritual power"
I slump but recompose myself "if I die delet my internet history will ya" I take off. He smiles and walks the opposite direction. Soon disappeari g in the fog.
"I don't think I ever intros you to him" I say to Stark softly. Stark is quiet but I know he heard me. I simply shake my head and continue on my way.
Upon reaching the north west part of Sayuta I see some civilians slumped over in a sleep. Others are wrapped in plant like cocoons. There are dark creepy Spectors around them. They seem to be feed on them.
"We should take them out" Stark inclines.
"Ah he speaks" I chuckled. "Alright. Let's get this over with so I can get some much needed rest." I get to work. These things are strong her than the skeleton soldiers in that cave. But I'm able to dispatch of them Swiftly. Now that I'm accustomed to this kind of battle I'm able to move easier. They may be spirits but they move like men with a ghostly shimmer. I play my flute and add on debuffs to the spectors slowing them down. Afterwards I destroy whatever remained. They die as if fading from existence like a faint echo with wrapped cries.
Creepy.
I free the civilians and Stark grows into his large form and carry them to safety.
"That was fun." I admitted. "We need to hurry and destroy that Susurri" Stark advised. "Otherwise more will simply spawn" he has a point. Stark goes back into the dagger and I take off towards the Susurri. I hope my brothers are alright. Hopefully inside. This is very dangerous and as far as I know they can't do what I can.
I hurry towards the creature with no telling what truly lies in store. Or if I can defeat it. But what matters is that I win. So I shall.
