The fox. This very interesting, cunning and unique animal. There are many stories centralized around foxes in many different cultures. In the Native American culture A fox is a true representation of keenness, slyness, and scrutiny. Some of their tales even depict the fox as a God that has the power to create. Other tales will tell you how the fox once stole fire from the heavens to provide to humankind.
The name for a commonly red fox in Keetoowan language, Tsalagi, is Tsula.
Am I dead? I'm pretty sure I'm dead. The area outside of the precinct looks ghostly and in front of both Chiefs and I Sit a large red fox the size of a house at most. Its eyes glow a bright white luminescent color and I see other foxes coming into the clearing of the city street. So if I not dead now it'll be very likely I'll be eaten in the next few minutes or so. I say this because I can tell the large beast is looking directly at me.
"I am Spirit Tsula" I hear an older female voice reverberate in the air. As if in my mind but not. Very much so like a loud speaker. if I were to speak I'd mostly hear the voice. "I have come to speak with the young warrior. " Again I hear the voice....its coming from the large fox I think.
"Did you" I began to speak to Aiden. he cuts me off confirming he heard the voice as well.
"That voice you hear comes from the spirit fox Tsula young men." Gola educates us. Tsula. That's Cherokee for fox. More commonly the red fox. A bit on the nose but I guess spirits dont exactly do originality when it comes to names....holy crap this thing is a spirit...like a big one.
"Men hold your fire and enter the precinct. " Aiden orders the other officers, who was prepared to shoot, to stand down. But they didnt move. I repeat, do not fire. Go back inside the precinct." Still no movement. I look around. They're faces riddled with shock and fear. It's not as if they're disobeying orders. It's more like my fellow officers are paralyzed.
"Its no use." Gola walks around checking on the officers. "Spirit Fox Tsula is using Predatory on them. True Form makes the effects stronger." Predatory? True Form? These terms are foreign to me. Gola sees my face but before he could explain the Spirit Fox Tsula does so instead.
"Predatory is a human term for imposing ones will upon others young Warrior." I can hear the low growling of the large creature but its voice in ny head somehow melds together like two entities speaking as one. "True Form is the human form that describes my current appearance. I could for instance become smaller like the children that surround me but I feel a need to present myself honorably in front of the spirit warrior." Tsula's lip curl upwards. Wait is she speaking of me? I couldn't be a spirit warrior though. Didn't the spirit warrior hold capabilities I have never shown...like supernatural capabilities I mean. Being descendant of the Spirit warrior does mean I am one I dont think.
" You believe my Detective to be the spirit warrior?" Aiden seemed rough with his words. Gola and the large creature noticed this as well.
"Indeed young shaman." Tsula answers him. Gola stays quiet. "Do I sense envy or pity?" Tsula walks towards us and I see just how big she is. Yeah....a bit bigger than a house.
"Pity is definitely the case but I feel a sense of worry as well." Aiden speaks up as the spirit circles us. "Everytime the Spirit warrior reveals itself to a point I. history calamity follows and the spirit warrior meets a terrible end." Chills climb my spine. I'm all about protecting and serving but I dont believe I'm "meant" for a terrible fate.
"That is why I am here young shaman. Trust in us from Upper World." Surprisingly Aiden closed his mouth. Then again hes been doing that with me for a few weeks now so I guess it isn't that surprising. What is surprising is that I don't see any civilians in the city. Honestly this barely looks like Seyuta.
"Drake," Aiden turns to me, "I'm sorry but Tsula will be guiding you. She will inform you of everything you need to know." He then walks away. I wanted to ask what meant but its pretty explanatory. I turn to Tsula who wraps herself around me and speaks directly to me. Her glowing eyes peer into mine.
"I shall protect you, and guide you young Spirit Warrior. Do not fear for life, just know I will bring out your potential until you no longer need me." Before I could say anything she seems to enter my body. I am then left where I was. Comatose and about to receive the answers I've been searching weeks for. The Dark now known as the Night Breaker. The Wise Woman Isabella who is possibly my grandmother. Nemesis, a new devil that has entered into the heart of the mystery. And the legend of the spirit warrior. Could all of this be true or am I just delusional? I honestly don't know. I was hoping Carson would tell me but it turns out I'm going to be indisposed for the time being.
Because like I thought in the beginning. This damn fox just ate me.
Upon being consumed by Tsula I close my eyes. Although I saw it coming i didn't think it would actually happen without me firing a shot. Though the action seemed so innocent. At least it was painless. Could've been worse.
"Open your eyes young Spirit warrior. you are not dead." Hearing Tsula's voice didn't exactly help me. Tsula is a spirit afterall. I open my eyes regardless and see a bright light. I smell the forest. Pinewood and cedar. My eyes adapt to the florescent light as I see Tsula in a large forest. I check myself seeing my gun and badge gone. Looking around half confused half amazed, I examine the large Forest. Nature doesn't look too pure these days. Especially not in L.A. That's the city life. But the forest here is so grand and plentiful in life.
"where am i?" I ask this question assuming I'm dead. "I could've sworn you ate me." I hear laughter descend upon me. Tsula along with other foxes, smaller but like her, laugh at my question.
"No young Spirit Warrior. If anything you devoured me. We are in the Nexus. A world in between Upper World and Middle World." Her words sounded more serene than before. "Now we began your Education." And just like that while my previous worries still haunt me, new ones began in the form of a world I never once thought could possibly exist. I learn about things that would make Ryan jealous. This in of itself becomes a grand adventure for me. Saying this I know full well it is only in preparation of the insanity that awaits me back home in Seyuta.
