Prologue

If Lumin knew talking and getting close would get him in this situation he would've never tried to be the 'nice guy'. He let out a tremulous breath as he watched the man he once considered a friend- his best friend, squat in front of him.

He was always taller by a few centimeters but it's even more apparent when Lumin was hunched over on the concrete floor and his squinted eyes looked down as if Lumin was the street rat. His eyebrows furrowed..

Alistair gave voice to his thoughts "Look at me."

Lumin's blood would've boiled at his disinterested tone in his voice if half of it wasn't on the floor. "It'll be quick." He couldn't bear the thought of looking into Alistair's gray eyes. The same eyes that would tell him how he couldn't fall asleep without touching him. The same eyes that pleaded to Lumin to never leave him alone even if it was just for a second. It wasn't fair that someone that had no soul had such beautiful eyes. His eyes were the cataclysmic clouds before a hurricane, full of warning.

Lumin clenched his fist to bite back the tears from his eyes, ready to beg. Alistair sensed how far he was willing to go to keep what was his so his next words made it clear it wasn't up for debate. "Three...two.." Before he could get to 'one', Lumin's chin was yanked upward and his windpipe was clutched until even his next breath wasn't certain.

As Lumin's eyes split open he thought to himself if there were any signs in the beginning that it would come to this. If there were, would he even notice? Goosebumps raced up his arms as he gathered enough strength to hold the stare in those gray eyes. It was a contest to see who would look away first. Alistair's hand around Lumin's throat stopped him from moving too much but he couldn't control the change in his facial expression as he looked up at Alistair in anguish. "Please-" Of course Alistair won.

Alistair's fingers curl around twisting Lumin's neck until the occipital bone protrudes through his caramel skin.

Lumin could see the ground getting closer to his face as he fell. The grass tickled his left nostril and his face relaxed, almost looking at peace if it wasn't for his eyes. It felt like water was filling his ears as he looked to the side to see Alistair watching him for just a moment.

Lumin watched him get up and walk away. He watched as his core left him alone. He watched as the world around him was quiet but continuing with only himself struggling to stay afloat. A tear descended down his face, the salty taste kissing his cupid's bow.
