Chereads / The Legendary Daddy Merchant / Chapter 14 - Exploring Soleil City

Chapter 14 - Exploring Soleil City

Brian woke up by the clucks of chicken or whatever kind of animal it is. Lying on his arms, his daughter was still breathing in a rhythmic manner. They have two beds, but only an idiot will let her little daughter sleep alone after waking up in an unfamiliar world. Despite Paia's energetic and positive attitude, she still needed the comfort of her father.

He did not want to wake her up so he moved his arms slowly until he could stand up alone.

They only have a little kitchen that barely has the needed utensils to cook anything. Thankfully, Raju and his wife gave them some leftovers from yesterday. He only needed some wood to burn and a replacement for a pan to reheat the meat.

Having his mana consume so early in the morning with fire and water spell, they now have a simple breakfast.

'Asti left us with 6 gold. It should be more than enough to purchase clothes and necessities for living.' Brian was already making plans for their shopping later.

When some time passed, Paia greeted her father in the living room still sleepy base on her voice. Brian accompanied her through the little breakfast they have. The meat was still delicious despite it being leftover so they have no complaints about their meal.

After cleaning the table, regardless of Brian's limit, he created warm water for his daughter to quickly take a bath. He cannot risk having Paia smelling bad or getting sick when they have no useable clothes yet. Brian meanwhile just used some of it to clean his face.

They were now ready for the day. Brian was told that he would be meeting him outside their house. Only when the air is starting to get warm did Raju waved his hand to greet them.

"Did you already eat breakfast?"

"Yes, give my thanks to your wife for that delicious meat."

"I'll be glad… So where do you guys want to go first." Two humans and one wolf started walking.

"We need to purchase some clothes first since these are the remaining clean clothes we have."

So they headed to a clothing store Raju suggested. The sun barely showed itself in the blue sky yet, but the shops were already open. That aspect of the monster's lifestyle is one of the things he appreciated although the roads were not as packed as it was yesterday.

Raju leads them to a simple-looking store with different styles of clothes displayed behind a glass window. He cannot imagine how a normal human can wear them, but it just to show that they were not the main customer for their clothes.

"Welcome to Rainbow Wardrobe!" A woman dressed as an employee greeted them.

She looked like a human in every part except for her eyes. Instead of having two small eyes, she has one. In Brian's memories, the closest monster he can relate her to is an ogre. But the ogres in his memories were big and ugly so it would be disrespectful if Brian said it out loud.

"What would our esteemed customers need?"

"Are there any clothes for us?" Brian pointed to himself and his daughter.

They were the only two who entered the shop. Raju seems to have met someone coincidentally and he was chatting with him on the other side outside of the glass window.

The shop is rather empty now that they entered it. Except for some few clothes here and there which he assumed to be their most appealing product, there were only seats and mirrors taking up most of the empty space.

"Please follow me…"

'She is not surprised having humans as customers or even that talk in their language. I guess she is used to it, or she is just plain professional.' Brian thought to himself while she holds Paia's hand to come after her.

"These are all clothing for humans we have in the store. I hope dear customers find what they want."

Unlike back in Earth where all clothes in retail stores are displayed and ready for the taking, the woman gave them a booklet containing the list of clothes they have.

'Red frilly shirt, Plain white long skirt, Blue long sleeves… Only descriptions and no pictures. How can I know what to buy?!' Brian protested in himself.

It was unimaginable for Brian who has not experienced looking for clothes like this. It is like those menus in a fancy restaurant except this time, their description is broader. The final product might look very different compared to what the customer would imagine.

With no other choice, Brian can only ask for help.

"Do you have any dress within the size of my daughter? And also, some simple clothes that fit me."

"Ok, please wait for a moment."

Brian and Paia took one of the seats while waiting for the only employee of Rainbow Wardrobe. Glancing over Raju, he appeared to have no intention of going in. He only gave him a thumbs up when Brian met his eyes.

When Paia who was still tired from yesterday yawned, the woman finally returned. Along with her is a set of clothes for little children and men of adult size.

"This is everything that meets our customer's needs." She laid them down on the empty table in the middle of the shop.

'The choices are really limited.' Brian cannot help but think in his head when three sets of men's clothes and two child dresses.

Only one of the men's clothes really has anything that can be considered different. while the dress has the same flower design on the hem of the skirt. But at least for the dresses, they are different in color. One is bright yellow, while the other is pure white. The clothes he would be wearing only have black pants, a white shirt, and one brown vest.

Since Raju suggested this place to them, this must be one of the few clothing stores that offer human clothes of their sizes. So Brian did not hesitate to purchase all of them.

'It's already nice to have fresh new set of clothes. Not to mention it did not cost me a lot. Only a single gold coin for everything.' Brian is more than happy with his trip especially when his daughter is having fun when wearing it.

"Look father, my skirt can float." Paia was jumping after she changed her current clothes. He is more than satisfied just to see her happy.

"Thank you for purchasing at Rainbow Wardrobe." The employee with a noticeable bigger smile led them to the exit.

The number of clothes they purchased was really not enough. With only two bags of clothes in his hand, Brian noted to visit another time or place for more.

"Oh, both of you are looking good."

"Look Uncle Wolf, the skirt can float."

Raju laughed out loud when he saw Paia bragging. Brian smiled when his daughter treated their friendly neighbor wolf like her own uncle. Since their visit to the clothing shop ended sooner than expected, they immediately headed to the next destination.

This time the shops that offered the necessities for their home can easily be found and bought. However, it still took two different store visits to complete everything.

It was already mid-day when they finished. The duration of their stay was not long or anything. It is just because of how big the city was.

Raju told Brian that they have not yet entered the center for business in Soliel City. That fact makes you imagine how large the city really is.

Apparently, this vast community they are currently in is still not the biggest. Brian cannot believe that a continent much bigger compared to his human society was hiding inside the said Mirage City.

"I guess your last stop would be the Auction House. It will be night when you return. I can carry back your things back to our home and you can pick them up in our house when you come home."

The three of them were currently eating in a not so busy restaurant near the last store they visited. The fried dishes that they ordered were good, but not as good as Raine's cooking, or especially food back on Earth.

"I'm already indebted too much with your help. I guess more debt won't really change anything." Brian smiled as he replied.

Brian felt embarrassed accepting the goodwill of Raju. He already toured them patiently around, and he still offered his help in carrying the luggage after seeing how Brian was having a difficult time moving with all the things he purchased.

"Don't mention it. Nothing wrong with a good neighbor helping their good neighbor."

"Really, thanks…"

Brian and Paia separated their ways with Raju who was heading back to where they came from. After a fulfilling meal, both the father and daughter are headed to the center of Soliel City.
