I was woken up by Ketsu and I took second watch, I say second watch but frankly it is kind of hard to see so I guess I am taking second hearing, is that a term well it is now.
I am just trying to listen and see if I hear anything suspicious to wake up the rest of the crew so we can get on the defensive, but oh man am I exhausted I have never in my life walked for so long, I mean yea I was training to be a knight and my stamina was quite impressive if I do say so myself but walking for an entire day carrying all my equipment is so God damn tiring.
I still quite a bit of time left in my watch and man oh man I hope it's boring, please be boring, I beg for boring. Most people beg for an existing life but not me boring is perfectly fine, in fact I would cry if life hit me with excitement. Yes, I am a knight, and yes, a knight's life is that of constant combat, you may be wondering why I chose to go down this line, I question it myself.
Truthfully, I went down this path because I was recruited and it just seemed easier than finding my own path in life, our kingdom Karioku tends to focus on powerful casters and nurtures them, they said I had incredibly potential, I bet they regret that now. Aiko however, turned out to be an excellent caster, how could she do this to me, she left me behind how cruel could she get.
I still have quite a bit of time left before I can get Okuma and go back to my oh so cozy dirt, at least the blanket is nice. There are 4 stars that are very unique and that's how we tend to locate ourself and tell time at night, there is a green, orange, blue, and red star. The colors are extremely bright and they are way bigger than the rest of the stars, frankly I don't get why people call them stars I can clearly tell it is immense amounts of mana.... maybe I should ask Okuma I bet he would know, but he never talks I am expecting too much of him.
I just heard leaves rustling, please no, why, why me, am I that special, I just wanted to get my watch over with and get some rest. How am I even supposed to wake them up yell at them DANGER, but then that would give us away. Maybe I can wake them up one by one, but I feel like that would not give them a sense of my urgency. Was I ever thought this, perhaps I should have payed attention during our education, maybe Aiko was right about me..... no, that can't be if she's right god's left his heaven and everything is wrong with the world.
Alright now I heard leaves rustling from multiple directions and they all seem to be heading towards us, I don't have time to waste anymore.
"WAKE UP, we are under attack!"
Yea that sounded about right, honestly, I wasn't sure if we were but better safe than sorry.
Without skipping a beat Ketsu stood up grabbed his trust sword lifted it to the sky and everything was illuminated his sword shining. Was this man even asleep or was he just good in precarious situations, thank you world for putting him on my team.
Aiko, and Okuma followed in suit equipping themselves and preparing for a fight, the mana suddenly started to shift and I could tell Okuma was preparing to attack anything with his flames in an instant, Aiko used some mana to form arrows out of water that she could shoot at speeds faster than human perception, man her usage of mana was terrifying, and Ketsu just infused his sword with mana.
Meanwhile I stood there with my sword, watching menacingly. I spotted the enemies 3 GIANT BUGS! First, we were attacked during my watch now bugs, just great. These bug monsters looked kind of like centipedes except their front legs were a bit longed and appeared to be extremely sharp, clearly their weapons, they also moved at insane speeds, bugs did not need that advantage.
"Alright me and Okuma will take the 2 Chitikin on this side, Urana you go after that one and Kodoku you give him cover."
How reliable captain Ketsu, thank you world I just can't seem to thank you enough! I wish I was as good as a knight as him, maybe one day I'll give orders like a badass too.
In an instant I sensed the mana shift to singular spot, one was down, Okuma probably incinerated it. I also felt the mana focusing on Ketsu he was probably infusing his body with mana to increase his sense, WHAT A PRO! Meanwhile I ran at the Chitkin while Aiko prepared to take the show, I would have preferred if she took it out on her own but as a water caster, she tends to neglect her training to learn about healing and these things move insanely fast what can you do.
In a blink of an eye the giant bug avoided me and went straight to Aiko, no this wasn't right why did it avoid was I that little of a threat, or could it feel her focusing mana, regardless she had to way to protect herself in close courters, I felt her shot and heard the insane echo the sped of her arrow produced but it missed, I had to protect her, I needed to protect her Aiko can't protect herself.
She screamed, I moved, Okuma and Ketsu turned back to aid, they were too far. I was in front of Aiko I took a blow to my side, pain so much pain, fear so much fear. I felt the mana shift again the bug burned to a crisp, thank God, my vision was blurry, I was tired, she was safe.
"Senshi, are you ok, PLEASE wake up!"
"God Aiko, can't you let me rest for a minute."
She always did this she never let me enjoy myself.
"Thank god you are awake, are you feeling well you took a blow to the side but Kodoku healed you right up."
Thank you captain Ketsu for worrying about me, and damn right she healed me that's her one job.
"Yea I'm fine my memory is a bit blurry; I just remember attacking the bug thing"
"More importantly what was that stunt you pulled, that thing clearly aimed at your chest but it somehow hit your side, and you didn't even have your weapon to deflect it."
What was hot shot himself Okuma on about, I guess I can't keep the quite gag going he really broke out of character.
"And Senshi you moved even faster than that bug monster to save me, you were pretty far away but reached me in an instant, what did you do?"
Aiko is seriously delusional; I was right next to her right?
"You said you have 0 affinity when we first, did you lie to us?!"
Wow wow, calm down Okuma throwing serious allegations here and you arent even letting me say anything.
"N-"
Cut off, you all are asking so many questions and not letting me answer any of them, great.
"Senshi is seriously pathetic trust me, he has 0% affinity, maybe he has some other power like vampires."
First, I am pathetic and now a vampire, I was right Aiko his delusional.
"That's impossible there is no way he could ever be a vampire, he has to have more affinity than he said, that's the only possibility."
Okuma really wasn't backing down, and most importantly he wouldn't stop talking, how the silent have fallen.
"Enough, we can question him tomorrow while we walk, I too have many questions, but for now let us rest. I will take first watch; Okuma You'll take second, you two rest."
Thank you captain Ketsu I appreciate it, although I don't know what questions you want to ask me.
"Guys I have no idea what you are talking about, but I agree with Ketsu lets rest I am so exhausted."
"Fine."
Wow Hot shot himself Okuma actually backed down.
"I can take first watch Ketsu sir, I know you are exhausted you've barely gotten sleep."
Aiko was really sucking up.
"No, you are our only water caster and you just wielded so much mana to heal Urana, you must be exhausted your health takes precedence, please rest."
"But."
"Enough please do as I say, if you fall, we all fall take notice of your own importance."
"I.... see."
And with that I finally got to go to bed while Ketsu and Okuma watched my back, they are much more reliable than me so I feel safe. Tomorrow we start our journey again and start heading towards that rumor town. They keep saying I did something but im pretty sure it was just luck, honestly, I don't remember, whatever I'll leave tomorrows problems to tomorrows me. Its sleep time.
