Amber fell asleep against Arveion's chest and she found herself awake in the middle of the night. She couldn't sleep. Her eyes were damp from tears and she kept replaying earlier events.
'And I don't need you? I needed you."
She blinked back her tears, not wanting to put herself through the pain. She looked around the room, seeing that Emma had returned from her playdate and was asleep on the chair, buried in her sculptures. Amber slowly shifted herself, she pressed her hands against his shoulders gently and made sure to not apply much weight when she pushed herself off of him. She sat on the edge of the bed and glanced back at him. He rolled from his usual spot but didn't notice her absence.
The girl quietly walked across the room, careful not to wake either of them and she locked over her shoulder when she twisted the knob. Once out in the hall, she placed a hand over heart and inhaled a needed breath with back against the door.
