Chapter 11 - Tracing One of the Ancient Ruins

"Is this one of those ancient ruins?" asked Anko curiously as she looked up at that place.

A building made of bricks was like a castle and was vast, yet meandering like a maze. What is a castle in the form of a maze? Anko wondered, clearly depicted like this world's most famous ancient building.

She thought the ancient ruins were just fragments of buildings and debris from ancient buildings that had been destroyed. However, the green moss and crust attached to the walls of the building make the color of the building look beautiful and elegant.

"Yes," Syifa answered with certainty. "This is the ancient ruins. You must be surprised, I was the same as you at first and thought that the ruins were actually buildings that had been destroyed." It was clear that it was Syifa who also saw it by turning her face to the other side of the building.

"Why is it even called an ancient ruin?" asked Anko to confirm with a surprised face. She still couldn't believe it was a ruin.

"There used to be an old man here who explained that the building was a castle floating above the clouds. Well~ the point is nothing on land like this. he said in the sky there is a fairyland. If humans like us want to go there, we must have high abilities. The humans who are here are competing to improve their abilities and fight for the highest place here. However, in the land of fairies aka Elves have qualifications with humans, so which humans are suitable to live here? They did not allow him to enter his country indiscriminately."

"Oh, I see. Syifa was very kind to explain to me about all this." Anko listened closely.

"Not really. It's saved from a book I've read here before." Syifa convincingly.

"Uh, a book?" Anko said in surprise.

"Yes, right. However, the chosen man was greedy. Those who were already highly educated borrowed the power of the elves and handed it over to the demons. the pure holy elven power was finally polluted by the evil black magic. Finally, the house of the elves that were above the clouds full of splendor there, was brought down to earth. It was the event of the gate collapsing. So when the gate collapses, then this building will be the legacy." Syifa explained.

"Eh, I see, it's like living in a fairy tale," Anko muttered with a bit of pleasure when she heard that interesting story.

"Then what about the humans who have mixed hands with the demon?" Anko asked again Syifa, who was assumed to know everything.

"The human turned into a mage and absorbed all the mana in this world. However, not all of the mana in this world is used up, but in certain areas where it is spent. Did you see that? A lot of barren lands everywhere..."

"Yeah, I saw it, I didn't think the magic possessed by humans could be that cruel." Anko felt that somehow all humans who were born good and looked perfect were bad. None other than her own family has abandoned and neglected her.

It's true, Anko was born in a good family but, in that family, in their hearts, their treatment of Anko was not always good. She is always required to comply with the wishes of her family and cannot freely enjoy the things she likes.

"Anko, why are you suddenly daydreaming like that?" Syifa asked worriedly to Anko who suddenly looked down and daydreams of something like she was thinking about something scary.

"Ah, it's okay, no problem of me, ehehehehe~" Anko replied with a cheerful smile so as not to sound like there was a problem.

"Oh thank goodness, I thought you were scared." Syifa who said that still wore a worried expression.

"Ah~ no, I just thought of something about that story~" Anko explained, trying to be cheerful so that Syifa would continue her story, "Then how about it?" she asked again.

"Ah, yes, the barren land is actually where parts of the land are lost, so when an area loses its mana, the life support pillars that have this atmosphere are also disturbed, and that's what causes it to collapse. This world is still unstable but, more and more people are coming to live in this world."

"Coming?" Anko was suspicious of those words, what did he mean by being invited? And is this world real or just a game? But, according to Anko's observations, Syifa looked like a normal human and not a game.

"Yeah, that means people like us are also summoned in this world."

"Is there a way to get out of this world?" asked Anko who made sure that if people like her were summoned then there must be a way to return to the real world.

"Unfortunately there is no way back to our real-world yet," Syifa said by shaking her head and putting on a gloomy face.

"Oh, yeah, about the ruin story earlier… I found it from the book written by the elves, each ruin usually has a different story but the point is the same, being attacked by magicians." Syifa seriously.

"Eh, so that book is in every ruin huh, hmm ... surely the Elf made that book to tell the story of their life," Anko concluded as simple as possible.

"Yeah, maybe."

In Anko's heart who had walked this far, these ruins she walked through were not like scary buildings. Instead, she was amazed, "There must be something in this building… I'm getting more and more curious, what is new life? What is Yuuto Kazuya? What if I ask Syifa, does she know the person named Yuuto? Is Yuuto an Elf?"

"Syifa, how many ruins have you encountered so far?" Anko asked Syifa to be more precise.

"I forgot and didn't count it," said Syifa doubtfully as she thought about it.

Anko said in her heart, "Ah~ looking at her expression it seems like she's met a lot.

"Oh, yes, is Syifa's ability called magic?" I asked to be sure.

"If she is a witch and has some kind of black magic or is waging a rebellion, I will leave her as soon as possible," thought Anko as she looked at Syifa seriously.

Syifa who was in the form of an unfriendly-looking man smirked at Anko, "You're suspecting me?"

"Eh, I'm sorry." Anko who was caught suspecting her immediately apologized. Her face was scary. Even though Syifa's real form is a woman.

Anko looked around while thinking, "We were just walking along with the building, what exactly was Syifa looking for in this building? I did promise to travel with him but, just looking for the beauty inside the building doesn't seem fun."

'Perhaps...'

"Syifa, may I ask one thing?" Anko confirmed the reason behind all this.

"Yes please."

"You said, this building used to be the house or residence of the Elf up there..."

"Yes, right."

"So, is there a resident in this building guarding it...?"
