Chapter 73 - Mission For The Gods

A Realm between the Realms—much like Nowhere, home to the Shadows—uspended within the fabric of reality, yet anchored in a place removed from mortal and conventional understanding; infinitely vast, shrouded in clouds and mist which flows like a living ocean of vapours with no physical foothold to call the 'ground'. It is the amalgamation of three different Realms, spiralling upwards in a fake canvas. Among the higher forms of life and godly beings, it is known as... the Divine Realm.

The 'skies' of the Divine Realm are of a bright and vibrant golden hue, filled with thin flowing strands of raw power and energy of all the Realms. Beams of radiant light would fall from the skies like a divine and beyond perfect mimicry of the gentlest rays of light from a star.

Vast gardens of divine flora that peek through the shrouded ground, trees and plants glowing with mysterious internal light are prominent and common—especially near to the rivers of liquid energy of the universe that flow like water that create lakes of pure Celestial powers and essences, below the shattered and scattered floating islands, and the mountains.

The Divine Realm is inhabited by numerous deities, celestial beings, and divine creatures. Needless to say, these Gods possess strength and powers that far surpasses most of creation—if not all—and have their own distinct Domain over which they practise their Authority and cultivate their Divine Law.

The celestial beings have a hierarchy since the Divine Realm is split into 3 distinct levels with each level having a corresponding Ruler or Master...

The First Divine Realm is the domain of independant Gods who are unaffiliated with any larger pantheon. They are, more often than not, forgotten, obscure, or rogue beings who prefer autonomy. They are looked down upon by the Gods of the higher levels and called 'uncultured barbarians, closest to mortal trash;' which, of course, causes a havoc. The Master of the independant, savage and free-spirited Gods of the chaotic First Divine Realm is notoriously recognised and known as Orionis, The Solitary Monarch.

The Second Divine Realm is where the Gods of organised pantheons reside; needless to say, having a rather popular name and being easily recognised by mortals, they are in a higher standing to most of the Gods in the First Divine Realm in most aspects—with an adequate number of exceptions. As opposed to their independant counterparts, the Gods of the Second Divine Realm are more involved with their mortal followers as this Realm was built with balance, diplomacy and competition in mind; however, even if they are more connected to their followers, their nasty and ironically demonic personalities and vendettas against the weak mortals that are not their followers cannot be undermined. The Master of this civilised group of Gods belonging to their respective pantheons is actually a group called the Council of The Gods; the council is comprised of the Kingly Gods of the major pantheons that simultaneously belong to the Third Divine Realm—some are: Odin, Dagda, Yu Huang or the Jade Emperor, etcetera.

The Third Divine Realm is the domain of the Kings and the Highest Gods of each pantheon, along with the Primordial celestial beings. They are the most ancient beings, and while not omnipotent, they represent the highest form of divine authority within their domain of power. The Gods here are concerned less with worldly, mortal affairs and more with the cosmic balance and universal order, and jurisdiction of different dimensions. There is no Master of ruling over the entirety of the Third Divine Realm; rather, most of the celestial beings and Gods live in harmony with little to no scuffle with one another—except for some unruly beings such as the likes of Sun Wukong, who is very well-known for the trouble he causes. After all, if such powerful entities were to fight for control over the Third Divine Realm, there would be no end to the magnitude to which the universe's scale of balance would tip on either side.

In the First Divine Realm, there sat the blinding white, humanoid silhouette of an old god—under a tree bearing small, white leaves—on a simple carved seat. He seemed to be meditating. The god was one of Foresight; thus, using the authority over his Domain of Foresight, he planned his next few steps... overseeing the vague, fleeting remnants of an echo of the past, present and future.

'You two have done well,' the figure thought, inspecting his hand and the two fleeting spectral lights of a bluish-white hue with light trailing behind them that were dancing around it, 'My disciples and followers will lead the way with arms in hand; for our cause is pure. I see countless possibilities... and, between the undesired, there is a narrow way through—thet leads to bliss.

'It is time... to hold my part of the deal.'

———

At the same time, still in the First Divine Realm, there was a disturbance at one of the points of convergence of the Divine Realms. It was due to these scattered points of convergences that communication for important matters between the Divine Realms was possible; therefore, a disturbance around it meant the arrival of an envoy of important gods with a high standing, or the gods themselves. It was rare to see the gods of the other Divine Realms get involved with the First Divine Realm though.

There was already a group of gods stationed near the point of convergence as though they were expecting someone to come.

As the energy dissipated, all that could be seen at the distorted point of convergence was an orb of fiery light; "A message from Ares, a High God of the Domain of War, arrives," the orb spoke, "I, as his consul of-"

"Stop speaking out of your arse, just get to the fucking message already," one of the towering, giant-like, human-animal god with an odd number of wings on his back spoke as he sat by the orb; his hands, wrapped around his knees as he pulled them towards himself. "Tch. This why you swines are down here, do you not understand?" the orb said, "Well, excuse me then; listen close: get to the fucking job, you filthy vermin; remember what's at stake here. If you succeed, you'll be feasting on Celestial Essences and Dragon flesh. Retrieve the bodies of your fellow, good-for-nothing gods and then proceed with the plan; here's the weapon and the noose. You may kill the King if you want, but the Book—you must retrieve at all costs."

To the message of Ares, the gods of the First Divine Realm that were gathered could not help but grunt at. "Hand over the things."

The fiery orb exploded into particles of light and disappeared, leaving behind 3 floating objects in the middle of the group of gods: a magical hammer coupled with another object that looked like a small, wide pillar of black material with a button on its top, and a normal looking noose. The noose, however, was a magically charged object with a use yet to be revealed to the gods...

"Well," the giant god spoke, "What're we waiting for? I want to eat already."

"Keep you beak off my wolves, maggot," a human-like figure with the head of a wolf spoke, "I heard that the younger Vampires have a better taste, so you can feast on them. My boys get the Humans though."

"Uhh... so, do we also have to descend to the mortal Realm of the Vampires?" a rather small figure that lay face-down on a cloud spoke, "I reeeeally don't wanna... the mortals are too many in numbers and also loud; I don't like that combination."

"I suggest that you also come with us," the last one, a squirrel, spoke, "This fight might be tough if either one of decide not to go. I am not suggesting that any one of us is weak; however, we are facing a strong force, after all. The Vampire King and his subordinates are not a weak force. Well, unfortunately for them, we have a big, big surprise prepared solely for the purpose of this mission..."
