Quinn had prepared well enough for his journey and visit to Nyxterra, to see what was going on there, and hopefully, meet the Vampire Ring Bearer to nip the bud before they get as strong as himself, if not stronger. He did not know what the other Ring Bearers would be like; whether they would be out for his head as the previous one was, or they would be more reasonable. He certainly hoped that it was the latter. If he could just settle things peacefully, he would gladly do so.
However, from what he knew about this ridiculous death game that he is unfortunately part of, he could tell that the game would not end until there is only one Ring Bearer left alive; in Andre's case, he was always on the run. He needed to think what could be done with the sticky situation that he was in right now. He had no malice towards the other beings that were a part of this game, and thus, had no intentions to kill them; not unless they tried to kill him or anyone close to him—if so, he would do everything in his power and being to anihilate them from the depths of the cosmos.
He needed only wait for Aaron to get ready to head to the other realm; one that was inhabited mainly by Vampires and the Humas.
It was not long after, when he was thinking about the whole situation with the death game and the Ring Bearers and Nyxterra, that Aaron had contacted Quinn. The message stated for them to meet in a secluded area that Aaron had prepared.
Quinn was in the city that he used to stay in, on Earth, once again; he was glad that he had come here to stay for a few days before leaving the whole realm altogether. He reminisced the days when he would simply sit, staring at a corner with no purpose or goals, without even blinking for minutes and not thinking of anything; he would, other times, fantasise about abilities, and even study all the known abilities in his free time.
He was done taking his time in his small room and now, was ready to move on. On the way out of his small apartment, his eyes fell on an untouched and dusty trophy that he had earned via an MMA fight; he held quite the resentment towards his early-teenage self for the shameless and rage-filled victory. The story was the same for almost all of the trophies that were in the cupboard near the enterance, behind a glass casing.
He opened the cupboard, and moving slowly, touched the trophy with his index finger. Soon, the trophy started to disintigrate as red particles continued to anihilate the matter building up the trophy until it was reduced to nothing. Quinn turned around, but not before releasing some more of his Demise Energy that continued to travel towards the contents of the cupboard, touching about 13 such trophies and turning them into nothing, leaving only the dust that was on them to fall down.
Quinn no longer had any more attatchments to this place, and yet, he was not looking forward to leaving; leaving his once simple life to meddle into something that was once too far above him and all of the other humans. Besides the cupboard, he stumbled onto another small container, but what stunned him in place was not the container itself, but what the portrait on top of it showcased: his parents, in all their glory of their prime adulthood, when Quinn was only about 8 or 9 years of age. The three of them looked extremely happy and peaceful in the portrait.
Quinn looked at it for no longer than a few seconds before casting his Shadow over it and storing it away. With his memories relived, and fighting spirit still burning, Quinn left his apartment, and was greeted with the sunset. But, yet again, he did not waste any more time and walked to the designated rendezvous point with Aaron. He did not run for once, but slowly and calmly walked, while looking around the area that he lived in, without using any of his powers.
He walked towards the location, walked and kept walking slowly. After some time, he came across a familiar group of people; 3 boys that he would hang around with and called friends. Their names were Arman, Jeb and Jon. They were quite the mediocre looking bunch, as they walked 'cross the street and to a park, side by side. 'Huh... those guys, huh? Why not just say hello to them and disappear from their lives before I leave,' thought Quinn as he picked up his pace and jogged to the trio.
Hitting the shoulder of one he was most familiar with: Arman—limiting his strength by a huge amount so that the arm doesn't fall off or blow away. "Yo. Long time no see, Arman. And you too, Jeb and Jon."
The boy turned around and stood in silence for a second or two before finally recalling who the person standing in front of them was: "Quinn! Where've you been, my guy!" the same offered an elaborate handshake. "I guess I don't need to remind you who I am. Things've been kinda weird lately; I was in the Military Academy base 1 for the past few months. Nothing exciting other than that," Quinn replied, 'Other than that one time I got the Divine-tier armour set, the whole lot of other times that I fought against monsters too much beyond yourselves, and the fact that I'm going to leave this fucking realm and travel to another one... yeah, nothing exciting.'
"Military School?! I'm pretty sure that people with no abilities aren't allowed in there, how'd you-" Arman stopped in his tracks before smiling and continuing, "Well, well~look at this! The timid-ass Quinn that was the best in fighting finally got an ability! I don't think anyone in our age group could take you on now. So, would you care to enlighten us, or you're just gonna stand there lookin' all smug. What ability did you get?"
Quinn thought a bit before saying anything, but he thought: 'What does it matter if I lie or not? No body knows who I am... yet, that is. I'll be honest, I guess...'
"I got the Darkness ability," Quinn said as he smiled, "I guess you could say that I'm the strongest in all of the Military Bases as well. Even among the third years—hmph, hopefully."
"No way..." Jeb and Jon exclaimed in unision. "Damn, Quinn. You really came out here, out of the blue, just to drop this nuclear-fuckin'-bomshell on us? I couldn't get to the academy 'cuz you-know-why... but the one person who deserved to get to that place and climb the corpo, military, or whatever ladder, was you, Quinn. We've known each other for a looong time, so don't think I don't know what kinda guy you are. I'm proud of you, Quinn. I'll be cheering you on, so remember me when you're at the top!" Arman stated, "Hahahah, I guess you're in the big leagues now..."
Quinn and the kids talked for a while before Quinn had to leave. He did not want to leave Aaron waiting, after all. Bidding them farewell, Quinn did not feel saddened at all. But, he would feel another emotion when he was greeted by a familiar notification: [...11%]. He had been getting these notifications that kept on incrementing, but he did not know why or what they signified, which was the scary part for him.
Ignoring the notification for now, he kept walking, 'I can't do anything about that notification by the looks of it; no point in wasting my time over that.'
He walked, walked and kept walking, until a water ball, the size of a truck's wheel came flying at him from the corner of his widened eyesight of over 270 degrees; a most familiar sight of when Quinn had no abilities and was picked on for that. A stupid reason to pick on anyone, but human kids always were the same. 'Ah. I missed this,' Quinn's countenance changed from that of a relaxed one to a maniacal grin, but he quickly calmed himself and tensed his fist.
The water ball was still moving towards him and was about to hit him. But, before it was about a metre away from him, he swung his handhand lightly, generating enough wind to completely disperse the water ball and turning it into drops of water that gently sprinkled down. "Wha-!" the kid that threw the water ball exclaimed, sharing his expression of disbelief with the 3 other boys with him, "What did you do, you son of a bitch!"
Quinn did not say anything, but he just paced towards them at a speed only slightly higher than normal walking speed. Another water ball came flying towards him, followed by two more, smaller water balls and spears of earth; as well as a wind slash. However, to their surprise, Quinn once again, simply swung his hand, dispersing the water and wind, and shattering the earth into dust.
"So, what if you got an Ability, you bastard! You think you're hot stuff now that you also got one?! I got a C-Rank Ability. If I wanted to get serious, I could just drown your ass!" The kid prepared for a powerful attack as water was manifesting above him and the sphere only kept growing in size until it could no longer steadily hold its shape and was about to burst. That was when he launched it at Quinn.
"You might have a C-Rank Ability—although, that's kinda low—but, your potential and fighting ability is still at F-Rank," Quinn lifted his leg and kicked the air, making sure to hold back and not accidentally releasing a slash of force, cutting through the wind by using [Body Modification]. He noticed that he had been using it to limit himself rather than to enhance his body, which he found quite funny and ironic.
The wind, once again, dispersed the water and blowed some of it back to the owner, and slammed down on him and the other kids. Quinn was pretty much on top of them at this point and his fist was shaking. And, before he knew it, he was about to throw a punch, possibly killing the the kids.
The whole thing with him disintigrating his trophies was still fresh in his mind; stopping himself just in time, he thought to himself: 'No. I won't make the same mistake as that time.'
Without uttering a single word, he stepped away and moved on from the encounter, finally meeting with Aaron.
