Stephan was sitted in his usual null state at the extreme end of the class when a voice waved into his ears;
"Hello class" the voice began, Stephan raised his head slightly to see a pretty, partially light skinned girl with slim body figure standing in front of the classroom, it was Hadiza, the SS2B class rep. "The mathematics teacher said everyone should come over to SS2B, the act class for a combined mathematics test" she said and left the classroom.
Students murmured as they left in groups to the acts class. Stephan was the last to enter the classroom walking lazily as if he needed a long nap.
"You there" the mathematics teacher, Mr Kelvin called out to Stephan who was walking towards an empty desk "what's your name?" He asked with his right palm all stained with chalk.
"Stephan sir" he replied loosing gaze with the teacher instantly
"Stephan? Are you a new student"?
"Yes sir" he replied
"Very well, you can go back to your class as you need alot of catching up to do before taking my test" Mr Kelvin said showing his back to Stephan and continued writing the questions on the board.
When he was done writing on the board he turned around and saw Stephan sitted, hitting his pen on his desk with a slow rhythm.
"I said you can....." Mr Kelvin began
"I heard you he first time Sir, please" Stephan interrupted with a quick frown
"Very well then, give it a try and let's see how well you do"
Few minutes into the test, Stephan called out to Mr Kelvin and said he was done with the questions. Mr Kelvin with shock expression hovering all over his face walked up to Stephan, took his answer paper and after awhile staring, a big grin quickly fought off the shocked on his face .
"Very good, very good Stephan" he said nodding gently.
The last bell went. The school was dismissed for the day. Stephan packed his bag, joined Swain and Tony and they all walked off from school together.
Stephan had made quite a name for himself, topping all the grades in class. He had become almost all the teachers favorite. If he was not studying with his friends, Swain and Tony, he was either helping the teachers in the staff room or helping other students study in the school library.
Friday was usually a busy day at the Nicho Hilson high school. Activities such as Labour and the Fellowship of Christian students (FCS) Were both scheduled for this day.
The bell went, the long break was over and students hurried back to their various classes. Several minutes later Stephan walked into the class and was surprised to see the biology teacher, Mr Moses in class and the student taking his test.
Hurriedly, Stephan made for his desk but was interrupted by Mr Moses
"Excuse me sir, where are you coming from?" Mr Moses said with a mocking tone
"I was helping out in the staff room sir" he replied
"You were helping out in the staff room and forgot you have my test today?"
Stephan stood still, looking tensed, he gave no reply
"Go on, sit down and start your test, and mind you, I'm not giving an extra time for you to write the test, once the others are submitting their papers, you're also submitting yours"
After some few minutes, the test was now over, Mr Moses collected the test scripts and left the class. Stephan knowing he had not done very well in the test had on an angry face all through the rest of the other lesson periods.
The bell went, it was now time for the short break. Stephan with his head buried in his desk was called on by Swain and Tony to go out for the short break but he gave no answer. They knew better than to bother him when he was in this mood, now that they had gotten a little closer to him.
After the short break, the students observed labour after which they gathered in the school hall for the FCS service. Stephan was now talking to Tony and Swain about the biology test and how badly he had performed because he was unable to finish most of the questions before the time given for the test elapsed when Elena, the beauty queen of the SS2A walked over to them and told Stephan to stop making noise.
"Really? Noise?" He asked looking up at her from where he sat with his forehead slightly wrinkled and one of his eyes barely opened
"Yes please, stop the noise"
Angrily, Stephan rose in an attempt to slap her but was prevented from doing so by Swain. Elena totally abashed ran out with her buried in the ground.
