Valentine Primed was merciless as he hurled the appendages. Their trial of blood clouded the sky as they landed on and around Hitirus. Being completely harmless in their first phase.
However, after all landed. That changed. Valentine Primed ordered them to burst, causing blood to flood the entire city. From the fine red taint, spikes erupted out.
Mangling Hitirus and all who stood in the range. Allied forces retreated as quickly as they could, hoping to not get caught within the attack.
Yet the flood caught up to them, drowning the ones in the back while filling those in the front with extreme dread. They stormed ruined homes and found higher ground to escape Valentine Prime's wrath.
He looked at Hymo around him. Tree-like spikes hung high in the air, looking like lethal reminders of the little bloody thing atop the mountain.
Conqueror stopped storming the lower parts of their home, letting rain mix with the crimson wine. They watched in shock as homes got reduced to nothingness and the attacker carelessly watched.
"I know you didn't die," Valentine Primed whispered. He heard a nearby branch crack slightly. "So show me how well you suffer."
Branches cracked and exploded, sending enormous shock waves through the mountain. What remained of the guardian realized it wasn't safe anymore.
It ascended through the storm clouds, parting them as its celestial body returned to the Seventh Rule of Reality. Leaving no trace of itself behind, but the thousands of hopes that shattered.
The explosions tore Hymo in half, mutilating everything that it touched. A giant clean-cut pierced the mountain, dividing it in two.
With more explosions going off, Valentine Primed watched it edge back and begin to fall on the other side. Ferals hurried to get out of harm's way.
Yazzo and Valiant helped each other find cover, hoping to wait out the attack there. Their bones ached and muscles nearly wore out. But they couldn't die, not yet.
Both Ferals focused on each other, holding themselves tight against the other's body. For Yazzo, it was a means of dealing with the extreme shock waves. Valiant did it because he wanted to protect her.
So if he died, she would be around to carry Volatile through its future endeavors. Unknowingly placing a lot of responsibility onto Yazzo, who only wanted to complete a Feral's life cycle.
Valentine Primed continued glaring at where Hitirus stood, even if he knew the mountain was moving. No emotions ran through him, only numbness.
Hopes of using his strength to search for his lover clouded Valentine's mind, he could see with the help of his prime. Even fly and clear out cities in seconds.
But as the duo stood there, watching the same spot, Valentine realized it was better to keep his hope high. He shouldn't risk looking for her, especially when he just manifested his prime.
A tear rolled down his cheek, and so did Valentine Prime's. They were a perfect mirror of each other. One of love and elegance, the other of exploited kindness and brutality.
"Is he dead?" he asked.
"I'm not sure," Valentine Primed responded. "Half of the upper mountain got pushed off the edge."
Valentine Primed touched on the newly trotted area. Feeling no rain as he walked since it disappeared during the violent attack.
Emptiness surrounded him, reminding Valentine Primed how Koroth Primed was. A vast, empty world with only a few entities powerful enough to roam through it.
When he arrived at the impact zone, he realized it was unrecognizable. Instead of a city, the entire thing was missing. Cracks going up the road and crumbling terrain.
"Did we do too much?" Valentine asked.
No response. His prime studied a mound of dirt that looked out of place, almost like hiding something beneath.
He watched intently, waiting to see if it moved. For nearly two minutes, the duo stood and glared at it. Beginning to feel a large sense of accomplishment for avenging Valentine's vision.
"We..." Valentine Primed paused. "No, we did too little."
The dirt began to move, parting as Hitirus emerged from beneath. Black and cyan hair coated his head, while the body of a Thawed housed the organs of a Zegus.
"Is that all you can do?" Hitirus grinned. "I believed a prime would know better than to use their strength on futile attacks. What part of 'I was given an order' do you not understand?"
Valentine Primed narrowed his eyes, feeling mocked at after not being capable of putting down an overcomplicated mutant. It was strange, way too strange. He was supposed to be capable of challenging Servants and leveling worlds.
Yet Hitirus still stood. Maybe as a testimony of his Will power or the survivability he gained after being told what to do. Either way, Hitirus proved he was no pushover.
Despite surviving, Hitirus couldn't fight back. It went against the laws of existence, he couldn't attack what was overly stronger than him.
So he sprinted away, hoping to throw Valentine Primed off his back as he fled. He jumped over the destroyed ruins of his home, off the side of the mountain, and began pummeling to the earth below.
Valentine forced Valentine Primed back into his gate. Leaving the crimson lover on the floor, struggling to breathe. He threw the mask off and turned onto his back, gasping for air.
Even if he did kill Hitirus again, he would just get up and continue. Valentine knew when he was beat, so he controlled his prime to stop fighting.
Out of their sakes, because no with no bodies around, the only blood left to use was theirs. Using it would've been a dangerous gamble, one saved for when he had no other choice.
"I... I fought as hard a - as I could," Valentine coughed out blood. "Yet he... lived."
"Do not let this impact us," his prime responded. "If Hitirus was stronger than us, then he would've fought back. But he knew he couldn't. I am simply above a Variant, the one he'd have to kill is you."
Life surged through his body, fixing Valentine's wounds and easing his muscles. He couldn't see like before, showing signs of returning to normal.
"Rest well," his prime commented. "You didn't get to recover from your injuries, now you must. Treat it like a broken bone or a stomach ache. Just relax."
