Chapter 269 - A Vision of Tragedy

Pearl walked through curtains that served as walls for the hut. Inside this hut, ten Oracles sat meditating with the Nine.

Their shoulders and eyes were glowing a bright blue, which lit up the place bright enough to make the burning fire in the middle of the room seem useless. Pearl gasped, she knew what was happening.

All ten of her Oracles were receiving messages from the Suth. She fed them several visions she received during the day. All of which had their own sinister truth that would someday come to life.

While they sat in silence, Pearl got on her knees. She closed her hands and bowed her head. While she whispered Thawed prayers, her Oracles began raising one by one.

Each surrounded her, hovering a hand over the crown of her head. The arm connected to the hand started to glow until it reached the opened palm. Energy descended onto her head, which primed her mind into receiving these messages.

Intense white lights emanated from Pearl's eyes and mouth, she was experiencing a spiritual power surge in her body. Which allowed her to look at the visions.

First Pearl knew, she was in the middle of a burning city. The marble roads littered with debris, the aftermath of war.

She turned her attention to the skies, where a large four-legged creature loomed overhead. A massive eye opened up from the center of its underbelly, the iris shrunk once it saw the destruction.

Pearl instantly recognized this as Namsaninus, goliath of destruction. Its massive head pointed down, revealing its ugly ivory horns. The featureless face senses the chaos beneath.

The burning of bodies and the weeping of dying Variants. Even the smell of snuffed out peace and broken promises. It then began to walk towards an important-looking building in the distance.

One of the front legs came down on Pearl like a crumbling tower. It was quiet and ready to carelessly claim another life. Right as it crushed her, Pearl woke up in the next vision.

In this vision, Pearl saw a dead female Zegus. She was still in one peace, nothing was missing from her body. In fact, it looked like she was just sleeping.

However, there was a male Zegus crying over her body. He placed one hand on her stomach, crying tears of utter anger.

For each tear, a curse sung to the killers. He promised her when he encounters her killer, he would mutilate them before feeding them their body parts.

Before he could continue, a door swung open. Another shadowy figure came into place. When Pearl tried to get a better look, she realized it was too blurry. Only thing she knew is this figure was small.

The Zegus cried out in anger at the figure, before charging at him with a furious cry. Pearl's vision broke, resulting in her waking up in the next one.

She woke up in the same room, this time with the Zegus lying dead on the floor. The shadowy figure from earlier kneeled over the female Zegus, rubbing the bridge of his nose.

Voices that spoke what sounded like Bakano called out to the figure, some even looked inside the building. However, the figure slowly looked up at them.

With a furious battle cry, the figure lashed out and slaughtered all other figures that walked inside. Pearl would follow the original shadowy figure outside, where it would continue murdering others of its kind.

Pearl noticed something in the distance, it was Namsaninus walking over. Its gigantic frame made it seem like it was just a small jog away, when it reality, it only had to take one more step to reach her.

Its iris eyed the shadowy figure down, that's when it dropped to its knees and began screaming like a psycho. It continued to scream louder and louder until its vocal cords gave out.

That's when it collapsed in defeat, weeping furiously onto the marble pavement. All while Namsaninus watched from above, acknowledging the destruction.

She would then cough, covering her face with her shirt as a tainted figure made its way towards the defeated shadowy being. Then it pointed in the direction of the sun, where the shadowy figure took up and ran to.

As it dashed far away from the city, Pearl began regaining her touch with reality. She fell to the ground, using her feeble arms to hold her up.

Four of her Oracles came down to support her, holding her shoulders and making sure she was stable enough to continue experiencing visions. But she wasn't.

One of the Oracles, named Entero, spoke to her master. "Pearl, you have experienced what we've experienced. Are you doing all right?"

Pearl shook her head, she felt like she was about to vomit. "My... head... ugh..." she took a deep breath. "Wh - what was that? Will these happen in real life?"

Entero rubbed Pearl's shoulder. "We are unsure. What we are sure of is these can come in different ways. These visions are visual stories sent to us by Servants or the Nine themselves."

"I..." Pearl coughed. "I don't understand.. what was the purpose? D - do we know?"

"Not yet," Entero helped Pearl sit. "We must relive these visions in peace before we can fully decipher them. But when we do, we will inform you."

"B - but wait... there was a - a goliath - there was a goliath. What about th - that? Will we -"

"We might see one breach reality and enter our own," Entero answered. "We are unsure to what extent will it do so."

Pearl focused on herself. "I - I originally came here to -"

"You will survive your venture to Full-Forward," Entero answered. She helped Pearl to her feet. "Do not show aggression and submit to them."

She nodded, understanding an Oracle's advice was better than anyone else's. Pearl took in one last deep breath before stumbling out the hut.

All three moons sat comfortably together, nearly overlapping with one another. Which was an extremely rare event if they were to have a perfect line.

During the cool night breeze, Pearl realized it would be wise to use her coolers. So she did. Frigid cold escaped from the organ into the rest of her body, helping her recover quicker.
