Chapter 220 - Beaten Heart

Adrenaline pumped through Valentine like a river, he felt afraid. Unsure if he could hold back such a destructive force for as long as his allies needed him to.

But he was already too deep, murderous eyes were peering into his. All he could do now is defend himself until time was up.

Hitirus dashed to the right, then quickly switched over to the left. Confusing Valentine, making it difficult for him to adjust where he was blocking before his attacker arrived.

"Oh, come on, haven't you fought Ferals before?" Hitirus mocked.

Valentine grunted, feeling extreme frustration in his veins. He delivered a well-placed elbow straight to Hitirus' chest, then followed it up with a sharp, bloody dagger to his stomach.

Crimson colored the ground as he tore his weapon away, leaving an opened wound on the attacker's body. Followed by a sword swipe to the chest.

As Valentine backed off, waiting to see what would happen next. Hitirus smiled, slightly lifting both arms to show off. What he was showing off were his wounds, at least where they were.

"What?!?" Valentine murmured.

Before he could react, Hitirus took one large step towards him. Then drove his fist into Valentine's gut, then struck his opponent's forehead with his forearm.

Sending Valentine crashing to the bloody ground among the corpses of his fellow warriors. The smell of fresh blood ignited something in Valentine, the spirit of restlessness.

During that moment on the floor, all blood rushed towards him. Coating his vest and finely made pants in the same crimson color as it. Then a sudden pulse knocked everyone down.

Except for Hitirus, who curiously watched the transformation take place. He smiled, careless of what was happening around him.

Where Valentine was, another figure took his place. All it wore was Valentine's usual crimson attire, except they were blazing red. Two devil-like horns reached up to a blood red halo over his crown.

Instead of a calm and confident look, this new Valentine looked frightened and insane. The catalyst of a rushed decision that could hurt more than help.

Hitirus transformed into a Thawed once again, one with purple hair and pink eyes. He made equal eye contact with his opponent before dashing towards them in a sudden fury.

Valentine ducked, then drove his horns into Hitirus' gut. They sunk deep inside, before the defender drove his knee into the attacker's forehead.

"Did it hurt?" Hitirus mocked.

While Valentine tried to stumble back in order to recover some mental footing, Hitirus charged once again. This time he delivered a kick that struck the crotch and the stomach.

Sending Valentine to the ground, where he delivered another kick. This one sent him to the dirt, where he struggled to get up from.

"Come on, you look so good, too. I thought you were for fighting, not for styling," Hitirus joked.

A demonic screech dazed him, notifying Valentine had gone berserk. The Thawed leapt up then slammed both arms onto the ground.

Several large spikes erupted out from under them, creating a path until they reached Hitirus. Four of them drove into different sections of his body.

Cutting into the stomach, heart, lungs, and heart. Valentine then formed an axe using the spilled blood. It weighed down in his arms, getting comfortable for the execution.

With a sudden swipe and a touch of deafening silence, Valentine took his head clean off his shoulders. Everything above the neck fell several steps away from them.

The corpse fell to one knee after all spikes retreated to the ground. Seeing his opponent killed calmed him down enough to bring Valentine out of his enraged mode.

He gasped for air, trying to get a grip of himself before returning to his warriors. As the blood worn off, Valentine noticed something strange.

"Wh - what the f..." he murmured.

Right before his eyes, the body began taking gasps for air. Almost as if it had a head to bring oxygen to the lungs, except it did. Hitirus' body was fully functional.

It lifted itself, growing back to full height. Then it casually walked over to its head, then picked it up. Hitirus' dead eyes stared down at the neckless body of his, before he mounted it back on.

"Mmm, mmm. Damn, it feels good to be back. You ready for warm up round number two?" Hitirus mocked.

Valentine's eyes widened, he was not ready for another phase. But he had to fight. In his mind he proved one thing, whatever this thing was, it could be slowed down.

While Valentine was busy thinking about the results, Hitirus tackled him. Holding his face using his right hand. Then promptly slammed the head down against the ground.

The earth beneath them felt like it had sunk several inches, leaving Valentine stunned in place. Hitirus drove a barreling fist straight to his forehead, which knocked the Thawed out.

As he laid there, motionless. Hitirus grinned, he knew he had only turned his lights out for a moment. But he wanted those around them to see how elites were meant to break.

Jakery settled the last warrior into the canopy above, then dropped down to help his mentor. He stopped when he saw Hitirus was towering over him.

The creation's broad frame slowly turned to face them, completely unharmed by the previous encounter with Valentine. Hitirus smiled at Jakery, keeping a figure pointed down at his victim.

"NO!" Jakery screamed.

He charged full-speed to his mentor, hoping to get there before the creation could do anything to him. Only to feel Hitirus' grasp tighten around his neck while he lifted Jakery up.

"You show much promise, little one. Just wait until you grow up and realize flashy looks takes over quality. Maybe then you will realize why this is happening."

Hitirus slammed Jakery against the floor, the impact crushed his lungs until all air escaped from his mouth and nose. Making Hitirus the only thing left standing on the ground.

As the tyrant turned to face his victim, Hazen gritted her teeth. She could not afford to lose the one who taught her what it meant to be a Digon Thawed.

She and her Sky Beast braced for what came next. Everything that followed was a blur, all they could remember was being back in the skies with a struggling beast in the Sky Beast's talons.
