Chapter 85 - Clever Plan

Masqueraded Light Legion warriors surrounded the Sky Beast. Which shocked Decka and Quinn.

In unison, the two parties drew their weapons and prepared for a heated battle.

Decka held his shield in front of Quinn while she manifested a beast made from any nearby flames. The oranges, reds, and yellows rushed towards them.

But the warriors didn't waste time in attacking them.

One rushed at Decka's shield. He grabbed the shield along the edges. The reinforced gloves prevented his hands from serious cuts.

Then the warrior used up all their strength to pull the shield away from Quinn, allowing another warrior to charge at Decka.

She tackled the elite to the ground. Then she planted a knee on his chest and used her other leg to anchor the arm wielding the shield. Decka was now powerless, waiting for the next event.

"WHAT THE HELL! I THOUGHT YOU WERE ALL INFINUS LEGION!" Quinn screamed.

The incoming warriors stopped and looked at one another in confusion. One stepped forward, his blade pointed at the unexpected visitor.

"Yeah, we are, but we pretend to remain loyal to the Light Legion for specific reasons. So don't expect to return to Kas and Dire with this information!" he taunted.

"Hey, hey!" Decka responded. "Ether sent us here! We betrayed the Light Legion to get away from Kas and have our baby here!"

The warrior stepped back in confusion. He realized it was a misunderstanding between the two groups, there was no need to fight. But they weren't going to trust them so easily.

"Show us proof!"

Before the duo could respond, a Distorted orb opened up behind the warrior. The Distorted reached for the back of his head, and forced him to experience a memory.

It was the memory of the night before, when all the elites were talking to Ether. It was like he was inside the memory himself. He could feel everything, smell everything, hear everything. It was perfect.

Then the Distorted let go. Syndicate Dust flew off the Distorted, revealing who it was. Demon stood where the entity stood.

A sinister smile splattered across his face.

"I am Demon Coros, brother to Ether Coros. You can trust me," he announced.

No one answered. The sudden appearance of a Distorted frightened everyone, including Decka and Quinn.

The warrior took a heavy breath and regained control of his body. He turned around and stepped aside the Distorted, he wanted to announce they were telling the truth.

"It's true. Ether sent them here!" he confirmed.

Demon looked pleased with himself. Not because he helped Quinn and Decka, but because he gained a new host. This warrior was his third host.

Each time he claimed a new host, he grew in knowledge and strength. The Nine could freely see everything from the perspective of a claimed host.

If a fight happened, he risked losing his second host: Quinn.

Demon helped Decka get up. Which surprised the Zegus. Demon was a lot shorter and had no large muscles, making him look extremely weak compared to other Variants.

But what he didn't realize was Demon wasn't the one lifting him up. It was Danitour. Demon pulled Danitour's strength and used it to lift the Zegus up.

"Uh... thank you!" Decka suddenly said.

Demon paused and looked up into his eyes. "Thank you..." he repeated. "You're welcome!"

Decka turned his attention to his partner. He checked her over to make sure she was unharmed by the event, while Demon stood there watching.

He curiously watched Decka show his affection to Quinn. Something confused him, he wondered why they were so close.

They weren't siblings or related in any other way than being in a relationship. So he tried to piece the puzzle together. He wanted to know the formula behind it all.

"So," Decka suddenly said. "You are all Infinus Legion, correct?"

"That's right," a warrior replied.

Decka rose his shield over his head and attached it to a small hook on his back. "Okay, good. Can you explain to me the reasons why you're dressed like this?"

"We figured if we could supply both Legions with food, we could be safe from the conflict. And we could gather information for the Infinus Legion," a warrior truthfully answered.

"Do you have any information?" Quinn asked them.

The warrior from earlier stepped forward. "Just recently, they sent out Ferals looking for Infinus territory. I saw some go towards the shore, where Onum was!"

Demon stopped pondering about the puzzle. He shifted his attention to the warrior. Hearing what the Light Legion did unphased him.

He was well aware of this all. Demon already knew about these events and decided not to tell anyone about it.

"Wow. Hey Demon," Decka turned his body to face the Distorted. "Can you return to Krugi and tell them about what the Light Legion's plan?"

Now that more Variants knew about this, he felt like it was right to share what he knew. Demon walked away from the group, Syndicate Dust followed him.

In seconds, the wind swept away the dust along with Demon.

"Okay. So, do you seriously feed the Legion that we're against? You do know there is a conflict between us and them, right?" Decka asked.

"We do, the Ferals told us. They also said an elite was coming to claim this farm as their own. You could bring your own group and slaughter them here!" a warrior suggested.

"They get the aged harvest," another warrior added. "The fresh ones get divided between us here and the rest of the Legion."

Decka sighed in relief. He didn't want the Light Legion to benefit from their resources.

Quinn ignored the second warrior's answer, she was focused on the first one's reply. It was the perfect opportunity to weaken the Light Legion's forces even more.

"Which elite?" she blurted out.

No one answered. They were unsure of who it was. Since they joined the Infinus Legion, they haven't been keeping up with the ever-changing positions inside the Light Legion.

Especially after Dominatsu's death. After Jakery forcibly killed Dominatsu, the warriors formed a mini-Legion amongst themselves. Which was a little game, in a way.

Whoever collected the most amount of fruits became the leader of the farm for three day and night cycles. The game kept their moral high and power in check.

"We don't know, they only said the elite was one of their newest and played a major role during the previous offense."

The hint didn't help in any way. There were several Primes who helped break down the Frosticus Legion.

"Okay, this is our plan. We will hide, and when the elite gets there you lead us to them and we capture them. Sound good?" Quinn suggested.

The warriors nodded, then they led them to one of the many empty homes inside the mostly defenseless farm.
