Chapter 69 - Unchanged Plans

Being the younger brother of Infinus' leader, Jakery had to take the position of leader while Ether recovered. It was going to test his leadership skills and ability to communicate with his Legion properly.

But before their first assault against the Light Legion happened, they had to prepare. Jakery was young but smart about their opponent, he knew facing off against them at this stage would be a dumb decision.

Valentine helped Jakery plan out their attacks against the first line of Light Legion cities and towns along the shore.

Since getting every bit of power could change the tide towards their favor, they agreed not to completely wipe out the Light Legion warriors located at every town.

Instead, they would as many in and place them over the territory they've claimed and some more protecting Onum's corpse. Because of its importance, that city was renamed.

Starting that day, Volknair was going to become the Infinus' Legion's second big city. It would be their new home while they fought Kas' forces.

Jakery declared the twins as official Infinus members and elites. They were going to help lead a team into the hostile Digon side, where they'd gather resources for more armor and weapons.

Valentine brought out the same map Danitour took out when they were planning on taking down Onum a while back. He stretched it over the table, allowing the sunlight to brighten the map.

This map grew as the Infinus Legion grew. When they started, this map was almost completely clean. But now, there were X's, different symbols spread around it, and their plan of attack.

What they would do first was send Pyroatic Weavers overhead. They will form orbs of flames and allow them to drop down onto the unexpecting Light Legion forces.

It would continue until their Sky Beasts took flight. Since Storm Chaser Sky Beasts were easily seen during the bright skies, it would allow all other Mountain Ascent Sky Beasts to fly through the clouds to attack them.

So far, the roles would be Hazen was in charge of giving specific targets to the Pyroatic Weavers. After the enemy Sky Beasts take flight, Hazen would alert Valentine about it and they would take care of their Sky Beasts.

This was all the easy part. The hard part would be what followed. Because once their Sky Beasts go down, three more elites would take the left side of the shore to hold off reinforcements.

Quill will combine his Thawed with Hizentre's Thawed, making a large barrier of ruthless Thawed. While Hizentre uses his Third Rule to help them place Thawed where the most Light Legion warriors would come through.

Kellenas would be on the same side, he would roar to encourage the Thawed while making their opponents feel frightened.

While they kept their attackers away, the last group of elites were beating the cities into submission.

Valentine would rain blood clouds upon them. Trying to cause as much problems as possible, even if it meant taking out Primes who weren't defending against them.

Demon was going to terrify the warriors into backing off, and Jakery was going to help keep pounding away at the Light Legion's defenses.

But there was a problem with these attacks. There were going to be many of Kas and Dire's most prized elites there guarding these cities and towns.

Which would make it difficult for them to advance and claim territory, especially when many were powerful enough to take down hordes on their own.

And that was the plan, with the goal of claiming most of the shores to help push inwards. This plan had a huge reward but came with a huge risk. If they lost, all of their powerful allies could die.

"Jakery, are you sure you want to keep the position of frontline fighter? You can change places and be on a Sky -"

"Ether would never deny a chance to fight where the action always happens. I'll follow his steps," Jakery interrupted.

Valentine nodded, keeping his eyes down on the map. "Perhaps I would try to reduce the lives lost during these encounters by making my attacks only hurt defenders."

"It would take too long, that's time for them to launch a counterattack. Besides, what Legion hasn't killed for their own gain?" Jakery brought up a good point.

Valentine looked at the Zesher and gave a concerned look. "Jakery, you're not the same Jakery I taught when we were in the Light Legion so long ago. What happened?"

Hearing the question made Jakery's blood run cold, someone else noticed his strange attitude. This was something he didn't want anyone to know about, but it was difficult to hide it.

"So many things happened since we left. I - I mean, I saw Demon dead and I nearly lost the side of Ether that comforts me. After that we haven't really clicked the same way again," Jakery explained.

"If he is trying to grow up into Koroth through force, then I'll try to follow his steps as well. Maybe after this whole ordeal is over we could finally reconnect like the brothers we used to be," Jakery finished.

Valentine folded the map into a tube, then placed it on the shelf. "Growing up like this is dangerous. Many believe they are fighting for good in their eyes, disregarding those they've harmed. Don't be like that."

"True..." Jakery frowned. "Well, how do I grow up properly without going into that side?"

"There is no way to 'properly' grow up. You need to grow where your heart wants you to grow. If you're not meant for fighting like this, then don't force yourself," Valentine's smooth voice suggested.

Jakery nodded and closed his eyes. He was debating if he should fight in the frontline or stay flying overhead with a Sky Beast.

If he fought up front, then he would have to push himself to the limits. Which could end up seriously injuring him because Jakery's body isn't mature enough to handle such discomfort.

On the other hand. If Jakery flew a Sky Beast, it would mean he had the ability to retreat and fight at his own pace. But that would go against what Ether wanted Jakery to grow up into.

"I think I made my final decision," Jakery sighed while opening his eyes. "I want to keep my position."

Valentine recognized the scorching green flame in his eyes. It was a similar stare Ether had whenever he encountered something worth challenging himself in.

"Alright, just know the only one fighting up there with the Sky Beasts is Suth," Valentine accepted.

"...With me around, you'll have plenty more elites!" another voice joined the conversation.

The two Variants turned to look at who it was. And outside the window, Pearl stood there. Watching them with a smirk on her face.
